I was riding down the road during dusk and saw a flash of a blackish thing on the left side. i thought that i had not seen some trash in the road and then hit it with the left front wheel and it kicked up -this was not the case.
i noticed that something was wrong the next morning when doing the walk around check before riding. I went back to the spot where i remember it happened, however the piece was gone.. *sigh*

its the panel that is on the left side to the front of where the foot rest is..

Has this happened to anyone else? i am going to stop by the dealership on monday to see what it would cost to get another one.
for some reason i can't seem to get the picture off the camera and into the computer (my desktop did a permanent hard system fry)

my poor scoot. as of the other day i now have 1600 miles on it

Yes, the same exact thing happened to me... left side panel two weeks ago. Luckily for me it happened in a parking lot and I was able to retrieve the panel and the screw. I put it back in with some Loctite on the screw and did the same to the right side. Everyone should check this on their scoots.

I had the small right side panel by your foot that covers some fuses come off. The metal clip had been widened by the factory screw so it would not tighten up. I replaced it with a large screw.

Haven't had the panel fall off, but did lose the right side reflector. Sometime before that I discovered a screw fell off the left front fender, one that holds the mudflap on.

Thanks for the reminder to go around and tighten
visible screws on the panels. I did them all before riding today.
Something we all should do every now and then!

front panel
yup, happened to me about 3-4 weeks ago. The panel fell off at a stop sign, or would not have noticed it. I went to the dealer for a replacement screw, and used a Phillips screwdriver to reset the panel in place.

Seems to me they could come up with a better design to hold that little panel in place. I so dislike wrenching! 8) Now I'll be more aware of that panel, and the screw that seems to back out on vibrations.

Has anybody with a 250 or 400 had this problem, or is it limited to 500s?
