Thanks More of a PITA to get here, but doable, I got one: PM tuning pipe. The PM is louder than the LeoV. I would describe the PM as "deeper" and the LeoV as having more growl. Earplugs and a FF helmet = deep sounding exhaust. Even the seat latch sounds tougher... |

No pipe on the market is loader than the LV sans baffle
Other than mine when the down pipe cracked in 2 Plus it did that in France , only 10 miles from the ferry though, so made it on and and off and called the AA in Dover. |

True about the LV being the loudest without the baffles. It also doesnt sound as cool that way though, IMHO. LV should have the baffles in, and then it has less of a leaf blower sound to it. Ask Glasseye about the sound of his Chucky bike. That thing has/had an LV on it and it sounded SUPER burly, and most of the sound was from the air intake modifications. |

The Prima is way throaty.
I've never heard an LV with the baffles out, but for $269 (if the special is still on) it's a smokin' deal for anyone who likes a deep loud pipe. It's so deep it pulsate's the tarmac you are parked on, it must be something to do with the size of the muffler chamber, you feel it through your feet within a 4ft radius of the scooter when it's idling on the center stand. My 4 year old daughter burst into tears the other morning because she thought daddy had left without kissing her goodbye, I hadn't, it was the Harley from up the road went past.... (true) edit: it's on special. http://www.scooterworks.com/Performance_Pipe_Prima_-_GT20_P6197C276.cfm |

Leo Vince Bafflectomy?
How does one fiddle with the 4Road baffles? is it just a simple as removing those two hex screws at the ass end and removing the plate? ???

My LV pipe is slowly getting louder as time goes on. I wasn't really expecting it to do that since the contents are ceramic I think?

I will letcha know if there are any clearance issues... I like the fact that the header length is actually tuned properly. The LeoV just used the stock downtube, and that seems to love to break. I will be glad to get that off of my scoot, and keep it somewhere for if (when) I break the PM somehow... it should be here tomorrow. I am glad about it. |

Benito wrote: My LV pipe is slowly getting louder as time goes on. I wasn't really expecting it to do that since the contents are ceramic I think? The products of the SBK range are internally fitted with highly thermally and mechanically resistant fibreglass wool, but due to the very nature and function of the silencer itself, they are liable to wear. As described in paragraph 3.00 of the General Guarantee conditions in the booklet accompanying every LeoVince article, regular maintenance must be undertaken on the product. On those bikes of standard configuration in terms of engine and carburetion, it is necessary to undertake checks on the state of the actual sound deadening material according to the frequency indicated in the respective user and maintenance manuals of the other exhaust system components. The average duration of a silencer obviously varies according to the load applied and the conditions of the roads run. Should the deadening material be found to have deteriorated, it should be replaced before this deterioration actually affects its heat insulation potential towards the exterior of the silencer, which will in time risk damaging the carbon mounting brackets and /or the original plastic protections. NOTE: the replacement of the deadening material must be undertaken exclusively using original LeoVince spare parts and following the assembly instructions as provided in the pack. I removed my LV just to replace my tire, and a not small quantity of fine white dust poured out the inlet end....spent insulation. When they get louder and louder, it's as that wool packing deteriorates. They speak of the SBK Range here, but it's the same for pretty much all of them.... |
