it's in MINT condition. the previous owner used his hard topcase more because it fit a 12" pizza. the bag was hardly on the bike, it doesn't show a day of wear. The price I paid...what he paid for it new, on sale, back in 2001. any guesses???

Hey! That's different than mine and most I've seen in photos. The straps have rivets through them in two different spots and there are plastic fasteners. The leather tabs that the straps pass through are higher too. Wonder if there are other differences?

It sure does look like there's some sort of mod to the fasteners. Here's what mine looks like....note the buckle closures.

My guess for 2001 list is $179.--
Do let us know! And also please show more detail on the closure modification. |

That is a cool thing to have, totally impractical but very cool.
I couldn't have one took my rack off and sold it... Didn't want to look like some Mod fool... |

Totally impractical because of the buckles...which is why if you rivot buckle fastners on it, you can in and out in a breeze. You two have very good eyes, I wondered if anyone would catch that. When the flap is closed, you can't notice a thing. I paid $250 |

you work on THAT mod, I am going to work on a mod to attach the bag to the rack.
I don't want to use the buckles. I want it to be more secure when it's on there. So I will come up with something for that, you make it theft proof. |

A padlock with a longish hasp can capture the middle attachment points , locking it to the rack. (So 2 locks required.) Somebody with a knife would still have it in under a minute , though.

The advantage of the two nuts and their location is that you would need proper tools to remove the top case from the scooter. I'm thinking of amending this a bit by adding a plexi "platform" the same size as the bag underneath to counteract the slight sag my bag has developed. |

NOW you're thinking. I wasn't going to use plexi, I was looking into a small piece of partical board, cut almost a smidge to big to it will fit extra tight and help the bag keep it's form.
See, the mounting for me is going to be a bit different because I have switched up my rack and seat to a GTS type. So my rack is not the standard GT diveboard, it's the chrome tube type. I'll show the prototypes soon enough. NOW...the question lies...what should I do with the Piaggio Canvas Bag??? |

Oh, woodenhead! I don't think that was me...at least I hope it wasn't. Was it the one out of Los Angeles?
There were a couple of auctions for these cases - both in black and in brown - around that time, and I think I got it for $280 which I made me feel pretty quesy too...but was nothing at all like the ones that went around the same time for $500 and $600!! Sorry if I was the one who scooped you. |

I realized it was you right afterwards , but I couldn't fault anybody for my inability to pay more. Gotta pay to play... I still have the photos on the white plastic chair. Yup, L.A. I think I saved the link somewhere. Thought I had it, though! I almost gave you a difficult time when you posted asking how to mount it, but wasn't sure how you'd take it. cheers |
