Recently installed the Audicator.com turn signal beeper. Thought I'd have some fun and install their Brake Text / Light also. Thought this bright LED light would be a perfect 'IN YOUR FACE' second brake light. Unfortunately, I quickly found that all their mounting hardware was for a flat surface. Since the top storage box seemed to be the best location, I got frustrated fast trying to match the light kit with the rounded contour of the box. Went to my neighbor that's a machinist with the problem. He quickly pried the the LED light out of their plastic mount and told me to come back in a half an hour. With his milling machine, yes, in his garage, he made a custom polished aluminum billet mount. Wow, it looked great and expensive! Now time to install it:

(An easy project that took about 45 minutes)

Drill 3/8" inch hole below screw mount and run wires down through recessed slot of box. A little silicon worked great to hold wires and seal hole.

Cover wires with heat shrink provided with light and run behind chrome tail light mounting ring. Suggest notching plastic to accept wires.

Easy hook up of 3 wires to tail light pig tail if you want both brake light and scrolling text. 2 wires for brake light only. Follow Audicator's instructions.

Oh, the trouble I would get myself into with a text-scrolling LED array on my topbox!

Very cool, though - and a great write-up!

Installing an Audicator Brake & Text Light on LX150
Wow, received several requests for a video of the scrolling text. I don't have a website that I can attach it to. I'll remake an MPEG file and resend via email per your request in a day or so. Thanks Copper Dolphin for the suggestion....Robert Arnold

Installing an Audicator Brake & Text Light on LX150
Okay guys and gals, here's the video of the Audicator.com scrolling text and brake light. The brightness on the light was set at a low #2 on a scale of 1 to 9. It was too bright for the cam. Outside the #9 setting was great. The actual visable footage for this device is about 25 feet. But, I'm considered old and blind by my wife. On the negative side, after a couple of days driving around town with this, cars seem to get up on your A _ _ just to read the message. On the positive side, it's easy to turn off the scrolling message. In either case the bright LED brake light ALWAYS works no matter what the setting is. Yes, the scrolling message stops as soon as you touch that brake lever. And, that's bright and makes it all worth it! Questions? Drop me an email...Robert
