Does anyone know whether vespas are available for rent in the Hollywood Ft. Lauderdale area?
Also, is there a good Vespa dealer in the area. I am always looking for more unneeded accessories and love looking at the scoots in the stores.

There's no Vespa rental in the area...I speak from having done some research as I have been considering setting up a Vespa rental business in the South Beach/Ft. Lauderdale area. The problem is that anything over 50cc requires a motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license and that effectively eliminates a large number of prospective renters.
The local Vespa dealer is located on US1 (Federal Highway) and 26th Street in Ft. Lauderdale...google their website for directions. |

Sorry been a while since I was down there so I cant answer your question.
But during my 18 years of Florida trafic I learned one thing. Beware of cars with licens plates that reads "Je me souviens" If you see one - keep away. They're more dangerous than Stevie Wonder behind the wheel. Wear a helmet and drive safely! |

Thanks for the responses, both are pretty close to us, especially the Hollywood store. We stay on S. Ocean Drive South, of Hollywood.

Lot's of people make their own convertibles from an old rusty Cadillac and a can opener (not kidding you can see on the edges they used a handsaw, then it broke and they used something else.. These people well.. There's a lot of drugs in south florida some of the guys who have home made convertibles with a box for a chair and a big stereo pumpin turn without signaling first.. and all the old ladys from NY who are so short they drive their big old Oldsmobiles and Lincolns looking through the stearingwheel.. they sometimes use the blinker but most times the wrong way.. But then there's the Quebecians.. they have regular average joe cars.. three year old Chevys and Fords.. they vary in age BUT They always do an instant U turn, hit the brake for no apparent reason or start driving in reverse when they are first in a large car cue at a bridge over the intracoastal.. So.. they drive worse than blind people over 90, guys on crack and.. Personally I'd rather ride with a random drunk guy with no experience. Not joking. When i have time i'm gonna look for some statistics of strange roadaccidents in canada and compare quebec with Calgary or what ever. Certain there has to be a significant number of accidents in a category called strange/without logical explination. Drivers who've driven backwards into Mc Donalds drive through and somehow caught fire.. Been a couple of times in paris and two dozen times in Nice.. Seems people drive terrible in france but it in the old nationalist collony the tradition of driving like an idiot just grew worse the further away from the homeland they drifted over time. |

think if you google Je me souviens + car + driver, some most peculiar information (and a whole lot of opinons) will appear.
I'm not makeing some kind of statement being anti quebecian or trying to estrange them from the vespa community.. I'm just writing my personal experiences from the once i've seen mostly during holiday seasons in florida. Didn't know they made it all the way down to Miami without hitting a wall or getting stuck on the top edge of a drawbridge after not seeing or the red lights or hearing the noice just before the intracoastal A1A bridges open.. But then again they've made it from almost the most northern point to almost the most southern point on a whole continent.. so the couple of miles between lauderdale and miami beach should be a cakewalk (atleast if they take the I-95) |
