Ok, I have a 2004 GT 200 and when I see pictures of people posting about changing the variators and half pulley removal and the tools you need I can't help notice that this tool you can manufacture from a broken half pulley will in no way work for me.
I have yet to see a crank case of that shows a starting ring gear infront of the half pulley.
Is this because the pictures are for maybe an LX or another model? Or does a different year GT have it different.
Just trying to see if someone can shine some light for me, bacause I am now unforunatly the new worner of a half pulley with a broken fin, if I can somehow use that to make a tool out of it, it would be great but I just don't see how I possibly can considering that starting ring infront of it. I have ordered the "special tool" but I'm not getting it for like 4 weeks, I cant be without my GT for 4 weeks.
So does that tool made from a broken half pulley only work on certain models?

The broken half pulley trick works on the GTS, which does not have the starter gear mounted on the outer half like the GT does. As a result, the "official" variator holder for the GTS is significantly more expensive and complex.

The principal of the GT variator holder is pretty basic... maybe you could rig up something similar to jam the starter gear?

Just try not to break the teeth.
