was looking at getting the gts 125 but was wondering if it is worth doing the DAS so that I can ride the gts 250 straight away instead of waiting 2 years. What I mean is will i regret buying the 125 and want a 250 anyway in a few months any help appreciated.

Not necessarily. The 125cc GTS is fairly quick and will sustain a cruise at 63 mph. It has the most powerful engine allowed at 15bhp.
That said, I would always recommend the test. For DAS you will have to use a geared bike as I am sure no-one will do lessons on a 500cc scooter. I did my CBT, bought a GT 125 rode it for six months, took my test on it and bought a 250 the day I passed my test. I didn't have any lessons apart from the CBT and I'm not for a minute suggesting that that is a good thing. If you do your test in the next six months it will be easier. Gets much harder next year. PS You don't have to do DAS to ride a GTS. An A2 restricted licence with a two year restriction will do fine. |

I'm always surprised when people hesitate when it comes to getting a full license. It sounds like it'll make you a better rider, may save your life at some point, and could even be kind of fun. And you can still ride as small a bike/scooter as you decide later.
If you can afford the time and money, go for it. cheers |

Iam looking to do full bike licence asap anyway but the DAS means when/if test is passed riding any bike is possible. If the standard test is done which is £150 cheaper I am restricted to 125's for 2 years.

OK you two. Both of you are wrong. If you do your test on a bike or scooter which is 125cc and is OFFICIALLY capable of 100km/h (62.5mph) then you get a licence with a two year restriction of 33bhp, which in real terms covers you up to 400cc. You could get a Fuoco 500 and have it restricted if you wanted.
Therefore doing the test on an LX 125 would NOT get you an A2 licence, but a GT(s) 125 would. An A1 licence would restrict you to 125s forever. I did my test on a GT125 and was riding an MP3 400 within six months. I am still restricted to 33bhp until July next year. Am I bothered? No. |

Why is it all so complicated? Just shows everyone has a different take on it. Thanks for the confirmation mate. What does the DAS entitile you to then is this anything you want?
