I need the mIxture screw for an LX 150 Carb. IT is not really sold as an individual part so if anyone has an old LX 150 Carb laying around I could use some pieces.
I need the screw, spring and the O Ring. anyone???

Interesting you posted this. I recently installed the 38 idle jet about 3 days ago, and purchased the tool that is used to adjust the air fuel mixture (the screw you speak of I think.) Well after I made the adjustment I took the scoot for a test drive and about 12 houses away it started to bog down ( I instantly knew what happened.) After finally making it home I removed the pet carrier and looked at the carb and saw that the screw was missing (I loosened it too much.)
I called my local Vespa dealer and they told me that they have no idea how to go about ordering that part but was willing to sell me a used carb that had that screw in it for $75 So after a few choice words at my dealer I hung up the phone and decided to start walking down the street looking for this missing screw but never found it. So I thought to myself; if this screw pops off there's a good chance it's somewhere underneath the carb or somewhere close by. So I loosened the carb and took off the hoses and and low and behold there was the screw AND spring sitting on top of the block. Now with that said; I have no idea what your situation is, but if it's simular to mine, you may want to do what I did by peeking around the engine, you just might get lucky. Cheers! ⚠️ Last edited by cwilliams21 on UTC; edited 1 time

Thanks for the input.
This is exactally what happened to the guy that I am looking to find the parts for. He installed the larger jet made some adjustments and then lost the screw on the test ride. He looked for the screw but never found it. Ill have him look some more just in case. |

No sweat.. If he hasn't taken off he carb (which I'm sure that's probably the first thing he did) suggest that he do that asap before moving the scoot around.
After I took off the carb while looking for the screw I noticed many crevices it could have fallen into so with a flash light and a little patents he might get lucky like I did. GOOD LUCK! |

I won't go into a rant here; I'm just a little frustrated by their customer support (or lack there of) that's all.
The problem I had was they pretty much refused to lookup this part whether it was because they we're too busy, or offended by the fact that I worked on the carb myself instead of having them do it so they could charge me an astronomical fee, or just felt they had little to no profitable gain assisting me. The tone of the discussion makes me think it was the last two. The impression I have of my local dealer is all they want to do is sell scooters and accessories; that's it. After they make the sale they don't want to hear about problems. There is a silver lining after this experience. I've decided to learn as much as possible about the mechanical aspects, order all my parts from online retailers, and do all my maintenance myself. |

That's a great goal. In my limited DIY experience I found out the hard way via a simple as can be oil change, that the difficulty is in getting things Apart! Normal road dirt, salt, water etc....can do a number on threads and bolts....
Tools and manual's are all fine and dandy, but the knowledge of how to get that bolt unfrozen without stripping or breaking it is a big part of what you pay for in the labor charge. Good luck with the carb screw....worst comes to worst if you can get the specs, you can always have the screw machined.....we have to do that all the time with vintage gliders. Doug |
