What's the difference between these two editions as far as my 79 p200e is concerned?

http://www.amazon.com/Haynes-Vespa-PX125-Scooters-1978/dp/B0007ZAJ3Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1224093083&sr=8-2

and

http://www.amazon.com/Vespa-PX125-Scooters-Haynes-Manuals/dp/1844253899/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1224093083&sr=8-1

Also, I just ordered these DVD's today after seeing them mentioned on BBS: http://scootertechniques.co.uk/vespa_dvds.html

Has anyone here benefited from them? If not, I'll let you know what i think when they come in.

a couple things to note :

Every handful of years a NEW haynes manual for the P-series comes out. I have the one in the first link you see ... but i also have the exact same book with a brown cover that was from a few versions before. I probably couldn't tell you the exact difference between them. They might just be reprints because they ran out of the one and just changed it up abit when they reprinted for all i know.

Secondly - you ordered those DVD's from england. the UK and most of Europe use PAL formatting for TV / Movies, unlike the US which uses NTSC. This means that your DVD player might not actually be able to play the movie.

My Xbox360 and my Mac can both play PAL dvds for some reason. My normal DVD player doesn't. You also have the option of just buying a $25 PAL dvd player online or whatever should it not work in anything you have.

Just saying - you might run into that hurdle.

I have the Lambretta Maintenence DVD, and it's two sided. One side is PAL the other is NTSC format.

Good basic content for one who had never touched a Lambretta before.

The running maintenance DVD is double sided, PAL one side, NTSC the other.

The engine rebuild DVDs are PAL only but region free.

Loads of shops in the States sell them.

Its actually double sided DVD's (I double checked on that) one side is PAL and the other is NTSC. Besides, most PC's can play multi-region DVD's anyway, so no hurdles. Thanks.

So as far as the haynes manuals are concerned, it doesn't really matter?

The updated version covers the latest P series, and has a few errors from the earlier edition corrected.

Did they correct the one about jamming a screwdriver into the rotary pad / crank area in order to hold the flywheel steady so you can remove it?

The second Haynes manual you listed has additional info for the later PX models with a disk brake. Other than that they are pretty much the same.

I've got the Vespa running maintenance DVD. Pretty basic stuff but great to watch if you don't know your way around a scooter. Planning on ordering the engine rebuild DVD soon.

Don't you think it would be better if we supported the guy who made them by buying them, rather than post up his work for free without his permission?

I love my "in search of Vespa" DVD! Glad to know I'm not the only one. Mine is PAL Region 0, I can only get it to play on my notebook, too.

Dick Humpty White cracks me up, that is one passionate Vespa guy!
The ending with the little Italian village Vespa club is the best!

Tsokasn-

A year or so ago, I searched everywhere for one and had no luck. They may exist, but not in any of the usual places.

I have a technical manual for a Cosa 1, pretty basic stuff though and terrible italian - english translation.

Can PDF for you if required.
