Be interesting to see how long this thread lasts...

The content of this forum is magnificient - I have obtained information that was not to be found elswhere. However...

The forum presentation etc is the most boring (gray!), the most uninspiring on the internet. It may have been "Modern" in 1990 but not now.

Given the function and presentation available (at a cost obviously), it seems pathetic that REAL (2008) forum facilities are not used. For example VBulletin (whether or not you personally have a problem with them, Jess).

You don't have to ban me Jess - I'm gone. I'll just have to live without all this good stuff.

I actually like the design. Modern is just a perception
Besides, the design is very functional, the colours are pleasant on the eye, text is easy to read and the navigation is logical (imho).

It's funny what some people find to complain about. With all the problems going on at the moment, this particular complaint ranks so far down the list as to be almost invisible.

However, I do like the way the OP said he was leaving never to return, and then returned to post a reply 10 minutes later.

Problems? What problems? There are problems? Crap, I've been spending so much time here that I have no idea what else is going on in the world....

(and I agree, the layout is fine, better than most, and finding that to complain about when there is an entirely new not-so-modern section to occupy your time....

I have 1 complaint about this forum, which also happens at others.(has nothing to do with how Jess set it up)it's when i write up a post,in the post a reply box. After I submit my post and read/see it,almost always the sentences are all broken up.So I always have to fix the sentences so they go all the way across the box.

I happen to like the format. I probably spend more time here than anyone else, so I'm certainly not going to make it look like ugly, or flashy, or garish.

And why would I ban you for that, anyway?

I'm guessing that you're probably hitting return after each line, which will prevent the text from wrapping properly. The solution (if that's what's happening) is to not hit return after every line, but let it just keep going. Hit return only when you want a paragraph break.

I really do like the colors. I hate reading text on a black screen. I avoid it at all costs. It makes me all wonkey after reading.

This is easy on the eyes and simple to navigate. I think that if you're looking for something like FaceBook or MySpace, you've SO come to the wrong place. I just hate looking at all that stupid blinking shit.

Can I get a witness?!

From talking to Jess in person a few times over the past couple years, I know he pays a LOT of attention to making sure the site loads fast. I appreciate that much more than a flashy site.

Take the Virgin America airline website, for example: it's really cool, loads slowly, and doesn't really load at all on the iPhone. Grrrrrr.

No, I sometimes don't agree with some of the moderator actions, but for Pete's sake, I have a life and can't fret over them. Keep up the good work, Jess and the mods!

You might also try putting a space after your punctuation marks (commas and periods). For instance, the software probably sees "Jess,I'll" and "suggested.Hope" in your post as one word and will put it on a new line if it won't fit on the end of the line.

Hope this helps.

As much time as some of us spend here, I appreciate the fact that MV is designed for utility and speed with some discretion in the number and types of geegaws and add ons that can make the whole thing a cluttered mess.

It's not beautiful, but if a member can't find enough inspiration in the subject matter and needs the forum layout to prop them up, then they're probably not well-suited for MV anyway.

That's funny. I like the way the forum looks - it's easy on the eyes.

The over-moderation and reading of PM's by the moderator might be more worthy things to complain about.
