Major bummer this past weekend. I went to wax and shine my GTS this past Sunday morning, so it would look nice when I took it to the Alameda car and bike show. While waxing I discovered a dent on the cowl...I was crushed. I have never noticed that dent,[ my first] , before. The scoot had just come back from my local shop for its 3000 mile tune and this was the first time I had wiped it down since then. Im not saying it happened at the shop...but...I also wiped it down before I went there and there was no dent then either. In the last couple of weeks I have not hit anything that I am aware off...so to all of you out there...dont do as I did...just ride away after your scoot has been worked on. Check it over with your shop before and after they work on it. Also....the dent is on a curved edge...has anyone had any luck with the dry ice or airduster spray method in helping to pull out a dent...just curious if this works. Crying or Very sad emoticon

I had a similar situation where I 'discovered' I had a dent in my cowl. Tried everything to get it out, including paintelss dent removal. Nothing worked well, so called up insurance and took it to the body shop.

Body shop said it was about 500 dollars in repairs, which insurance covered.

I would seriously give PDR a shot. The tools can work on on curved details, and if your PDR guy is skilled, you won't notice a thing. They can't get in everywhere, but I've been impressed with what my guy can do. The steel in the Vespa body should be of a high-enough grade to take to the tools well. See what they say.

randy sez: "...dont do as I did...just ride away after your scoot has been worked on."

Good advice. On one of my trips to the dealer, they left off the lower piece below the left cowl, and I didn't notice it, even with loading it on my VersaHaul rack--had to ship it UPS to me, although the service manager volunteered to drive it from Denver to Ft. Collins to install it!

thanks ....
Thanks for all the advise. I need to find a PDR person in my area...have them take a look at the dent to see if they can repair it....or if it will need a body shop. The dent is on the cowl, near the passenger foot peg, on the sharp edge. I took out the under seat storage box to see if I could feel the dent on the inside. No luck...its doubled walled in that area and I cant get my hand in that area....bummer. It looks as if the whole side cowl will need to be removed in order to repair it. Anyway , Ill keep my fingers crossed and hope it wont cost me an arm and leg.

I've used these gizmos with some success.....they don't work perfectly in all cases, but sometimes do.

For the price, its worth a try.

Thanks for the warning. I'm getting my 6,000 mile service this week and I'll be sure and look mine over well before I drive off.
