My first scooter was a Veno. Little bitty scooter and really too small for my size. But was great for riding back and forth to work.

Then I moved.

Saw the traffic and realized I needed something bigger. Upgraded to a Vespa 200GT and haven't been sorry.

The first scooter I rode was my friend's Honda Elite 150 back in the late eighties. He never rode it much and I kinda of highjacked it one summer. Till this day, I love those 150's. Totally over the top eighties styling is silly fun. I rode with one in group this weekend that was in good shape and ran like a champ.

I bought my first scooter last March. An S150. I had intended to get a buddy or something less expensive, but decided to "just look" at the Vespa shop one day and well, I left with a new scooter that day. I love the S around town and even on a recent trip from Austin to San Antonio and back it showed tons of spunk.

This past weekend, I saw a "new" '07 GTS at the Vespa dealer and well, I left with a new scooter. I can't stay off the GTS. So smooth and the perfect amount of power. I made the move up because I really enjoyed the 180 mile round trip between Austin and San Anontio and hope to do more longer distance riding. I have to go out of town for the next 6 days and I am already feeling the pangs of withdrawl!

I've kept the S150 in hopes my partner will learn to ride and we can enjoy my rekindled obsession together. I also couldn't picture leaving my spunky little pal behind (to the huge detrimate of my pocketbook.) Laughing emoticon

I've always loved scooters - the style, the ease, the riding position. I've had 6 over the 10 years I've been riding.

Sadly the answer to why I got another one is usually 'it died' or 'it got stolen'

Bought a Honda Jazz (Metropolitan) for my wife a few years back. For a variety of reasons she never rode it (ATG, lessons on motorcycles, not scooters), but I did & got hooked. Decided on something bigger/faster when a jerk passed me in my lane to beat a red light. Recently I took my wife for a long ride on the back of the GTS, and we bought her a new scooter two weeks later. After shopping for the best fit etc. , she picked.... a Honda Jazz.

Harvey

50cc Chinese POS (I still have it for kid usage).

Got my GT in 2005. Do I really need to explain "why" given my first scoot was a 50cc Chinese POS? Laughing emoticon

First scoot, it looks cool, it shifts, it gets 90mpg. Second scoot, I won it in a raffel! We are more vain of our luck than our achievments. R

82 Vespa ETS. That was an amazingly fast scooter - IF it was flat and I lived in the hills. Got a ET4 and then 1 year later moved to where it is flat. I miss my ETS.

got betty because i was fed up with public transport and couldn't bear the thought of another day on the london underground.

i bought wilma by accident about 8 months later. i had been obsessively following scooters on ebay, noticed a lovely little ET4 with low mileage and no bids right down to the last hour of the auction, and threw down a bid thinking it would get things moving. it didn't - mine was the only bid and two days later i brought wilma home. after a bit of tinkering with a dodgy exhaust and a messy carb, she is now my primary ride.

first scooter . . .
I have only ridden scooters two years (I used to ride motorcycles). My first was a GTS250 (thanks for the advice, Bosco!), which is pretty much a do-everything scooter. It's great for commuting, short freeway hops, and riding mountain roads. When I found it wasn't great for riding two-up or long freeway rides, I bought a Scarabeo 500, too. Now my wife has gotten into riding scooters, so it's good to have two.
