Modern Vespa

I picked her up and drove only 6 km from the dealer to my home because it started to rain and she became a bit dirty already

First impression after 6 km compared to the GTS250 which I drove for 2 years.
seat: padding is harder and the seat is lower because I can flat out my both feet on the ground
tyres: have to get used to the pirelli's, I feel I drive only with the middle of the tyre. I do not know how to explain but it feels different then the Heidenau K61.
throttle: much more responsive then the 250, there is no dead spot which the 250 has, the 300 reacts immediately on the throttle command where the 250 some kind of hesitates in the beginning.
engine: I immediately heard another kind of engine noise, somehow more "dark/heavy" but the engine runs more smoothly.

I will make a tour in the weekend and will feed back about the bitubo etc...












Yes, I brought her back nearly 20 km on the odo. 2 days after delivery I was driving from home a few km's and then suddenly she decided to quit. She is already at the dealer for 1 month now and she doesn't run untill today. New injector, throtthle housing, comlplete engine opened to check ignition etc.etc.etc.etc. It seems it will not run anymore. Piaggio technical assistance sucks like hell, dealer has to solve it with minimum/no assistance. Now I guess it is time to demand a new 300 and sent this one back to the mob in Pontedera

Boss in Beek is my dealer. Both 250 and 300 bought here. The best dealer I could wish, the boss himself sells, repairs, delivers your scoot at home etc....
I did not like the guy in Maastricht, for him it is strictly business, no price reduction at all, he thinks he has all the gold in his hands, no way for me.

I paid 175 euro for the front bitubo.

Why do you think I did not buy it in Maastricht ?

Good to know that from the store in Maastricht, I always negotiate about prices. I went there for a testdrive, but the people seemed OK to me.

The reason I knew it wasn't in Maastricht, is that you said it was a 6 km drive, and Maastricht is more like 15 km. Also good to know that Bos also does Vespa motorscooters, I only knew them for mopeds.

You said the super seat was lower? I was tip toeing the old gts250, if the super seat is lower? maybe i should try that.

MotoAmore, yes that is a Fiat 500. It is my wife's car and she loves it sooo much 8)

I love it too. It's not likely we'll see it here in the states though. There was talk about Alfa Romeo returning this year, but I haven't heard anything about it since. You have great taste in vehicles!

Do you notice a diffrence with the Bitubo front shocks vs the standard on the GTS.

Amaai! Big problems indeed. And sending it back would bring you no further...the black version is not mentioned on the Vespa website for a Super anymore, only white and red

I did not know about the black being skipped, thanks for the info.
And yes, amaai At the moment I do not know what to expect, my dealer is doing a last atempt to try to run it. But if it runs I have a new 300 which had a complete demount. So maybe I have to ask for extended waranty.

Ford may be bringing the Ka to the U.S. The Ka is a rebodied Fiat 500.

The Ka's a hairdresser's car though.

and i heard the fiat 500 is just an overpriced, new-design fiat panda.
and fiat panda is not a name to shout about.
i heard that the drivetrain, engine etc. was the same, but just tweaked to fit under this new design.
(i heard its exactly the same as the NEW fiat panda, because the old one made the name such horror)

and the ford ka is indeed very ugly, or are you talking about the new ka? that one is slightly better.

in holland, some ford ka's were ruined by vandals, because of the name.
they kicked at every ka they could find, because ka is short for kick ass.

It is really fine now, it runs much more smoother then it did when I picked her up. And I really feel difference with the 250 regarding throtle respons.
The very few nm's are noticeable.
And the dealer is great, warranty will start after the 1.000 km inspection.

All this talk of Ka!!! What about the possiblilities of the Alfa MiTo coming to the States???? If I can't have a 500 Abarth, that little Alfa could do the trick!

then wait for the Mito GTA, 1.8 ltr turbo with 240 bhp, that will be lots of fun. I drove the 1.4 turbo 155 bhp and she sounds like a real Alfa Romeo again just like the old days 2.0 ltr nord engines and the varese V6...
