ok well it kind of is scooter related.... oil has dropped back down to $70 a barrel .... back when i bought my vespa, when it was over $130 and gas was $4.80. Now i know it's not going to go back to the days of $1.70, and $3.56 (i think that is was it is today) is still high. i figured that to equal out the savings of buying the vespa and using it as a daily driver, which i do, instead of driving my 14-15mpg car, it would take me X amount of years for it to pay off. well now with gas going back down it's going to take me XX amount now .....

aww well i still love the vespa and do not regret getting one bit.... unless i get into a bad accident and can not us my legs or arms anymore, but lets not think about that....

i wonder if soon we will see that serge of vespa's we thought would be on ebay once people 1. realized they can't ride a bike 2. think gas is going to stay down and now would rather just drive their car.

I think a decent number of people will fall into category 2 above. While the fun of scooter riding is near undeniable, some people that live in places that have a proper winter - doesn't have to include snow, just wet & cold - will quickly realize that they aren't cut out for year-round 2-wheeled transport. Those scooters will end up on Ebay or CL...

Oil prices won't be down for any great length of time. OPEC is meeting next week and is going to squeeze the supply line in order to bump the price. All of the oil supplying countries have gotten too used to all of the extra money that they've been making and they're not going to let prices drop too far for too long. What's funny is that just a couple of years ago, when oil had pretty much locked in at $60 a barrel for about a year and then jumped to over $70, a spokesperson for OPEC said that they thought that they would like to see oil settle at $60 a barrel. Now, they've found out just how many extra billions of $$$$ they can fleece us for (thanks to the Wall Street speculator types) and they no longer think that anything under $100 a barrel is worthy of their oil. Hopefully, more people will start riding scooters and the auto industry will continue inventing technology that gets better & better gas mileage and the public can get a little revenge on these modern day Robber Baron's.

I'm going to have to start heating my house soon so I'm praying for something like $2.00 oil.

Less would be even better.
