I assume the tires can make a big difference. Putting my 75 Super back together I mounted new tires, but they hit the exhaust. The guy I got the scoot from had just bought the tires. He said he has another set on another Super. Could I have done something wrong? The tire only mounts one way, and same for the exhaust. I need about another 1/4". Any ideas. Do I just need different tires?

The tires should be 3.5 x 8".
Are you sure you don't have 4 x8"s on there? 4x8" were on old lambrettas, Rabbit Superflow's, old cushman's, and would rub if you mounted them. |

Wow! How many PSI are in that tire? That's some super-high tread, too.
EDIT: Last time that happened to me, I hit the exhaust on some crunchy road and it shoved into the tire. You may want to examine the exhaust mounts and make sure they're not torn, bent, or mutilated. |

tire is sitting at 30PSI. The exhaust is brand new. I have yet to have this running. Still waiting for a new stator. I had thought of beating on the exhaust, but I hate to break a weld or something and be out $90

so I heated up the exhaust with a torch and beat the crap out of it with a hammer. Now the tire fits.

Some exhausts are like that. I bought the Sito sausage type exhaust for a smallframe and it wouldn't fit the brackets at the bottom. I called Motorsport and they said that it's just how they are, you have to bend the pipe at the head to make it fit the bike you have. I chose to make a different bracket instead of bending the pipe, I'm always afraid of weakening the metal.
