Gas is now $2.65 a gal in NJ. (Yas!)
And I heard that oil is down to $70 a barrel, a/o 10/17/08.
-Apparently it's the lowest it's' been in 16 months. (Big deal, right?) Razz emoticon

And I also heard that because of this, OPEC is calling an emergency meeting. Seems some of the oil Sheiks are not happy with a few less millions per day profit...

Geez, that makes me soooo sad!

Don't worry, the cost of energy will rise again next summer, and the summer after that, and the summer after that...

And I can't believe you're GLOATING over $2.65 a gallon.

Just wait until the election is over. Oil prices will go up again soon thereafter.

Love it - filled the Jeep up today and only paid $2.57 a gallon - take that OPEC! Oh wait, I'm all happy at $2.57, something wrong with me.

Hell no I don't feel sorry for them! LOL
FWIW- RUG here in S.F. is still averaging $3.70/gallon... PUG is just shy of $4/gallon and Bio-Diesel never came down from $5.50/gallon...

one thing people should think about when begging for oil to go lower, is that basically all of russia's economy is fueled by petro dollars from the sale of oil + naural gas they produce.

there is a point where having the world price of oil go too low will cause BIG problems for them.

that might not be a good thing. i can't imagine russia is going to let their whole society implode so soccer moms in omaha can buy 87 for $2.30 a gallon.

Well, I would like it to return to the $.24 cents a gal it was when I got my first car, a spankin' new '61 Beetle...
But I sorta believe that the days of my running a car on about $2.00 worth of gas PER WEEK, are just about over... 8)

NEW YORK (AP) - Oil prices bounced back above $71 a barrel Friday as OPEC weighed an emergency production cut to stem crude's stunning collapse, while U.S. pump prices were poised to fall below $3 a gallon for the first time in eight months.

Yea, I feel real sorry for them..............

The problem with lower oil prices it that there is an underlying cause here, and that is not good! I also think higher gas prices force everyone to look for alternatives, which is not a bad thing either...

And it was not so much OPEC pushing up the prices, they have been wanting them between $70 and $90 for quite some time. It was a lot of speculation on wall street... Interesting how Wall Street is responsible for so much trouble these days!

Don't get me wrong, I love lower prices, but there are negative sides to it all.

What's really sad is we think $2.65 a gallon is cheap.

$2.65 is cheap. It's $3.49 here in So. CaL what with all the additional additives required here. What a farce.

If gas were to land around $1.89 a gallon I would think is was cheap, but I won't hold my breath as OPEC will cut production to maintain, or even boost prices.
