Does anyone know where I can find a pair of the Piaggio Black Leather and Aluminum grips for a GTS other than SIP? My dealer tells me they aren't being made any longer and he can't order them for me.

+1 - been looking for these things for awhile. No luck.
Related question - do these aluminum GTS grips fit on a PX? |

Try Vespa of Orlando, I just bought the brown leather aluminum grips about 2 weeks ago. It's true Piaggio doesn't make them anymore, but some places still have them. I just started calling around until I found a place that still had some in stock.
They look great btw! I have them on both our bikes! |

I ended up ordering them from SIP, they're on the way but i'm yet to know what the shipping charges were, I fear it's gonna hurt when I find out. Hopefully they'll be here by the weekend and I'll get them mounted up.

I'll grab some pics when I get them on over the weekend, they are supposed to arrive tomorrow. The shipping was insane, total was about $145 with the exchange and everything else. There was some confusion and my address wasn't accepted by the UPS calculator so for some reason they sent it the fastest way possible, less than 5 days from Germany to Seattle!

BTW, they do look awesome on both our bikes 8)! Just a bit of advice if you ever transport your scoots. I used to use Canyon Dancers with my tie downs, but they actually tore the leather off the grip, I repaired them with glue. I ordered the bar ends from Jettin and they work so much better! |

surfan wrote: Yeah, I saw that too, but every Vespa accessory place I talked too said Piaggio no longer made them Don't know why Maybe they weren't a big seller. None of the usual places like Motorsports or Scooterworks, etc.. had any left in stock. I started calling around until I found them on the 4th place I called(Orlando). But 149 dollars is insane. I hate it when people get ripped off , especially in todays economy BTW, they do look awesome on both our bikes 8)! Just a bit of advice if you ever transport your scoots. Heh, I'm sure they look great. I was stupid when I first bought my GTS - the place had them in stock, but I figured I could buy them again later. Doh. |

Alright, lets clear a few things up:
I DID call 15 to 20 Vespa dealers in WA, OR, FL (upon your suggestion), ME, and NH and NOBODY had or could get them. SIP lists them for $75 after the exchange rate and there was some confusion with my address and I took the chance by buying them anyway. Seeing as I don't speak, read or write German I somehow ended up with the MOST EXPENSIVE shipping they offered. It got to Seattle from Germany in 4-5 days, frankly i'm surprised it wasn't more. You can all say I got ripped off and that's fine, I wanted the grips and probably due to my own mistake ended up paying more than I planned to. I see other members here paying far more than that for things that could fall into the "rip off" category, ie the Piaggio leather topcase $600 or more for something that could be walked away with in 20 seconds seems insane to me but to each his own right, at least these are screwed on! Hey, at least it wasn't a $1400 camera, $800 helmet, or a not BODGED $6000 SS180 in Lambo yellow |

I got mine from Gus Sutton in the UK - Vespaspares. He usually has what you want in stock.

I think the general point here is that because they are no longer being made they are very difficult to track down. I would imagine that SIP still had them because they had a large number in stock to begin with.

Would these work? Not Vespa branded, but certainly cheaper. I'm putting them on my birthday-wish-list, if they'll fit with my GTV's handlebars and bar ends.

They are the Piaggio grips and they seem rock solid. I've only ridden the scooter a few times since mounting them but so far the slightly larger diameter has made riding with gloves and larger hands a little more comfy.
