Greetings:
One of the things I like about the S is the rub strips that extend 45° up the leg shield. This allows me to move my feet forward, Cruiser Style. The ET glovebox is nice, but no anti-scuff up there so i have to ride feet flat. Also the S models omit the key transponder feature. Maybe a minus in high-theft areas, but for me it's one less thing to go wrong. |

retro s wrote: Touring saddle...more comfortable You still own your S? Mine has just turned 15 Mine's 14, and I still own it. Most recent image I have of it is from last month, since it's currently in a state of mild disassembly. Speedometer drive cable came loose from the gauge, and re-attaching it went badly wrong. Cable's hooked up again, but... Stripped out the left mirror mount threads putting the headset cover back on, then accidentally drove the Hellicoil tap too far in and reamed out the top of the bore where the mirror mounting post's threads would engage the Helicoil's threads. Now I need to replace the entire brake lever bracket (and one handgrip, and probably the other also so they match...) It's fixable, but a heck of a nuisance. About the accessories: OEM short windscreen. The orange bag started out as a toiletry bag from Ikea, and uses velcro straps to attach to the seat's "grab strap" and the under-seat "bumper posts". I don't usually use it, but it carries my tool kit for group rides. The tailbag was discontinued a while back -- I replaced it once several years ago (after I overstuffed it but forced the zippers closed anyhow and ripped some stitches out), and will probably have to get the first one repaired when the current one finally wears out. It sits on a custom clear Lexan plate/adapter that's attached to the OEM topcase rack. Slightly stale photo

Mine was orange originally , paint started coming off after a year. Resprayed orange under warranty. Then 10 years later paint started coming off from plastic parts so I did a major overhaul. Today i don t know if it was worth it or not. I did it because of the very low mileage, and because I really like the bike. Parts are already starting to be scarce, like headlamp. I was tempted to trade in for for a newer one, but I will loose way to much money. As you can sea i changed the seat, the original was as if it had no fom anymore. Now it needs fork bearing and tyres. But these things wear on every vehicle. It just covered 33,000 kms, engine works really good, although i never figured properly how to start from cold lol. Do you have some techniques for starting? I just start giving gas as I turn the starter. Once its warm enough its no problem at all. Its not a problem actually, just takes about 3 seconds of turning before it fires up, maybe 4.

Turn it on, wait for the fuel pump to stop ticking (if it does to begin with), apply about half throttle, hit the starter, hold throttle until the revs come up and then it's running smoothly. Might not have needed all that when it was new, but it hasn't been new for a while now. I've got over 24,000 miles (38,000 km) on mine. If it still runs and looks good, why trade it in? Considering how many years of use you've gotten out of yours -- I'd say it's been worth it. Kept thinking I'd get around to doing the 178cc overbore and up-gear conversion, but haven't bothered since I also own a couple of faster scooters too. |

Mine does not have an electric pump. I had an electric short fitting the rear rack, bought a new wireing harness and it was without electric pump connection. But to be honest, even with the old system it still struggled from cold. Otherwise ,yes I love this little scooter. Also lots of memories with it.
