Wow, I wondered where my radiator cap was located and found it. My scoot only has 170 miles on it and my radiator fluid is LOW. My question is-----since it so hot in Phoenix, do I really need to put anti-freeze in my radiaor or can I get by with distilled water? At least for now, until I can figure out the correct fluid. I know it is suppose to be 50/50. So if I just put distilled water in now, will it 'mess' up the 50/50 rule when I do find the correct fluid??
Thanks ahead of time for any advise.

The level may be at the low level when scoot engine is cold. Check level when hot,if not up to full level , top up (add) some when scoot cools down. Recheck and top up as above when needed. Good Luck.

Nope--RTFM!!!. Your system is under pressure when hot, don't open the cap on a hot bike.

Check cold. Level should be between min and max--the max doohickey should be showing--don't cover it up. Make sure you're on level ground when you check.

If you are low use a 50/50 mix of nitrate-free antifreeze. The bottles will state that and say "safe for European cars" or something like that. Havaline Dexcool is good, but any nitrate-free stuff will be fine.

Just distilled water will dilute your coolant, providing less protection from the cold and corrosion.

You MUST have anti-freeze in the coolant circuit. Without the anticorrosives, your engine and radiators will rot from the inside.
Here's a good thread:
antifreeze

Color of coolant
Is it okay to use a coolant with the same ingredient, but a different color? The color in there now is blue (came from shop that way).

The important thing is that it should be nitrate-free for your aluminum radiators. I'm pretty sure the color is just dye put in there to help identify and locate coolant leaks.

If it don't freeze there you could be good with a coolant that protects to about 20 degrees (antifreezing)
