Modern Vespa

anyone else hate going to this site because of their layout and because everyone their thinks they have to act like a jack-ass or is it just me?

I heard that place is a zoo. We get some wanderers from that site here, and people don't seem to be big fans of them. I havent spent much time there, but that seems like a good thing.

Content wise - is it so resourceful that you must keep going? MV just started a new "Non-Modern" section for scoots, which will hopefully pickup in content and participation.

The black background with white/red/yellow text is just a part of the boards tradition. I like it a lot. Maybe it's nostalgia but I'd be put off if it changed. You can select to ignore the native choices for color in your browser prefs for background. The default layout isn't great, but the good thing about that board is that it's very flexible in terms of configuration. At the top you can choose to view in collapsed, expanded, dcf, classic, linear or threaded. Then choosing to sort by last updated or time of initial post can go a long way to getting the dumb threads pushed off the front page quick.

Ya, there are lots of jerks. But there is a lot of great information, funny people and no worries about offending anyone unless a newb is arrogant. That's about it. Even then, if people persist, they'll usually get help with or without contrition.

Why are you complaining about it here ? If you don't like it , don't go there.

I'm pretty sure there are other sites on the internet that you wouldn't like , too. Are you trying to start a bitch session here?

Heh, I honestly don't understand how you can drive so backheavy.

I like the BBS Yeah they get out of hand once in a while but at the end of the day you get your answer. What i like about them is your straight with them they're straight with you. Simple really. I started out there almost 3 yrs ago with the worst piece of chinese crap you could have and all my questions were answered. Not once did i get jumped. So i really don't get why people don't like them. If you start something you'll get jumped but i look at it this way,you asked for it. I like the format here better. Easier for me to use and i don't mind the colors. BGK so true

Honestly, I think this is some kind of existential experiment by the mods. I mean, what if somebody got a little carried away and called somebody an asshole on the MV and nothing happened? No recriminations (see above). No flamewar (see above). No deleted thread (see above). No nothing (see above). The thread would garner few replies (see above) and fall off the front page. Then the thread would sink into obscurity without a fuss, hence proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are better than those clods on the BBS.

Wouldn't that be kinda cool?!?

BBS has all the dudes that got kicked out of Jess's house. They may not be welcome in Jess's house any more, but they know a lot about scoots.

I suspect that no one has 'flagged' the post as offensive (the exclamation point on the upper left hand side of each post). Until it's flagged my guess (and it's only a guess!) is the moderators let the sh*t slinging continue until we're tried of pooping in our own sandbox. Kinda a social experiment, as jrsjr said.
