Am looking to replace the crappy plastic chrome handlebar grip ends with bar ends like those found on jettin.com:

http://www.jettin.com/BarendsSample.htm

The LXV150 is not listed as a possible candidate for bar end upgrades. Does anyone know whether it's possible to thread the LXV150 handle bar end?
Is it a size/ diameter issue? I'd be willing and able to slide all the brake lever/ switch housing toward the center in order to make the necessary space for the bar ends, just need to know whether this can be done.

1) Anything can be done, but

2) I've not heard of bar ends being put on LX series bikes. If anybody could do it, it would be Jettin'. Have you contacted them to ask how it might be done?

Aaron/ Judy-

Thanks for the input. I'll drop Jettin a line ASAP and report back on the progress. Ultimately, I wanna swipe the stock rearview mirrors from my scoot and mount them on my computer monitor in my cubicle. Will be hunting for some bar end mirrors. Either of you know of any sweeeeeeet rearviews out there?

FWIW, bar end mirrors tend to get bumped and broken pretty easily. Crying or Very sad emoticon

Cary
+1

Especially in SF. I've been knocked over twice in the past month, the first time breaking my mirror (and getting my first scratches Crying or Very sad emoticon ), the second time cracking my rear rack (and getting the center stand caught in a storm drain but that's the kind of thing that only happens to me Laughing emoticon ).

I've also had to adjust and/or tighten the mirrors on several occasions due to getting bumped while parked.

Re: bar ends on an LXV150?
Other than for looks what's the point of bar ends and changing them to different weights?

The end of the LX/LXV bars are not threaded and they don't extend past the end of the grips as needed to add the barends. I added a set of the stock GTS barends to my LX by:

1. Drill and tap the end of the bars to take a 6mm bolt. The hard part here is drilling the hole centered and straight with the bars on the scooter.

2. Make a spacer to go between the barend and the bar (recessed inside the grip) so that that there is a small gap between the barends and the grips. Washers can be used for this if needed.

Now you've got me considering bar ends. The end of my grips are beat up from the scoot being knocked over. Thanks!
