Went to the "Anatomy of a Scooter" today at the Motoretta dealership in
Toronto. Lucky for me they chose to use my Aprilia Scarabeo 200 as the scooter to be serviced on in front of a crowd of 30 people.

Even though I've been driving motorcycles and scooters for over 30 years
I definitely learned a lot about my scoot- I didn't even know where
the battery was!

Besides the battery...It was interesting to see my scooter slowly being dismantled. Now I know what these mechanics go through and what tools they use.

What a nightmare.

Cool. Did they show any useful tips for upkeep or service stuff?

We had a few question periods about hard starting and possible causes,
As well as maintaining your battery, Proper winter storage, Tools etc...

The course was free for the lucky 30 scooter club members that attended,
It was a very informative session and hopefully other dealers will adopt this
concept in Canada and the U.S.

Having this anatomy-type info would be awesome! The manual doesn't really identify stuff and, although I've looked at the service manual on MV, I'd love a quick poster or something id'ing what the stuff is. For instance, the air cleaner housing (at least that's what I think it is) had me bumfoozeled for a few weeks. How tough would it be for Piaggio/Vespa to ID the obvious stuff for us newbies???

Hey I was the one who organized this and I didn't even get to attend, nor did I get a free service out of it either. Crying or Very sad emoticon
