Just finished installing two Givi E21 cases on my 250, using the Fehling rackmounts from Twistedthrottle.com. Minor mods needed to work with Givi topcase mount (longer bolts behind backrest), but no real problems. Pics:

Re: Givi hard cases installed
Nice, I plan on adding those to mine but I don't see/find the Fehling rackmounts you refer to on twisted throttle??
I have sidecase racks coming from Germany. Craig Jones wrote: Just finished installing two Givi E21 cases on my 250, using the Fehling rackmounts from Twistedthrottle.com. Minor mods needed to work with Givi topcase mount (longer bolts behind backrest), but no real problems. |

Yeah it's weird. I ordered them in March, they arrived in October. Then I went to look at the twistedthrottle website and I can't find them listed.
Anyway, on my receipt the part number is FHG.7268KH, price $189.99. Maybe give them a call if you want some. If they can't find it, ask 'em to look up their Sales Order number 32627. Craig. |

Ordered in March, delivery in October!! Ughhh...
Well, I just wanted to compare price (mainly) since I have sideracks en route from Germany and to see if twisted throttle had any install instructions in case I run into problems with mine. They were posted on the 8th and was told I should have them in two weeks, so we'll see. But, mine are specific to the mp3 and to mounting the E21 cases...only problem was I had to use google translate to purchase them (sidecase moutns and mp3 luggage rack for my Coocase S48 topcase) and I paid in Euros so the exchange hit hard...all in all the price was about the same you paid for your racks. But they look good on the scoot!! Craig Jones wrote: Yeah it's weird. I ordered them in March, they arrived in October. Smrf FYI the racks I bought from twistedthrottle are in fact made specifically for the MP3, both the 125 and 250. Don't know for sure that they'll fit the 400 but I don't see why not.
The install instructions, even from TT, were all in German. However, the three photos on the instruction sheet are more than enough to let you know all you need. Craig. |

They're higher because they can also be 'color matched' via plates. In other words, you just swap out plates to color change them. |

Hey Craig, I finally got my racks installed What a day-got my 600 mile service, first rain & chrome (Post 504229)
and I think they're the same ones you got from TwistedThrottle that I purchased directly from Germany. My question is this...in the German only paperwork/instructions and the bolt/screws/mounts...did you receive two sets of mounting brackets for the sidecases?? I see where there are two sets of screw holes to attach supposedly to two sets of brackets that go under the fairings but I only got the 'Z' shaped ones for the back half. Did you receive the straight pieces for the front of the mounts? I see them in the instruction sheet pictures. I wonder if my racks/sidecases will be stable and strong enough without them??!! ⚠️ Last edited by smrf on UTC; edited 1 time

Hi R.B., I bought mine from a German reseller. You can see the manufacturer info and reseller info on my prior post at https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic35664?sid=6504350549fdb9de4ef28efbe375db28 ***UPDATE 11/06/08 The original posting info about the reseller in Germany has been updated and is NO longer recommended. See post for more info.***
Let me know if you need/want exact part numbers. I bought the rear luggage rack, side case mounts (specific to Givi E21 only available - but with some mods could probably do any side case,) and 'fitting' kits for the mounts (set of what look like spacers and more screws/washers) to the kits (I was told to order two of them but received four - so I don't know if they actually sell them in pairs and I over-ordered or they mis-shipped) The reseller can email in broken English or you can use something like Google translate to communicate. The mounting instructions included with the parts are in German only and very vague anyways. It took 2 1/2 weeks to receive. reno bob wrote: I tried to order them from TwistedThrottle and they said they couldn't order them any more. Does anyone know who would carry them? Thanks. Not when I was on the site in Germany...but I think for those handy at doing adaptations they could make modifications to make the bigger sidecases fit on these sidecase racks. I'll go out and measure them tomorrow with some close-up pics if you like but you'll see these sidecase mounts are flush the side case would be screwed to them. The sidecases do not have any top, side or bottom chrome supporting or enclosing them so I don't see what would limit a person to adding bigger sidecases...just need secure screwholes put into the sidecases you wanted to match up with the existing sidecase mount screwholes.

Bob... from twistedThrottle's website:
The E21 Cruiser cases are rapidly growing in popularity due to their compact size and appearance. These cases have been designed to present the narrowest possible profile when mounted while still retaining a reasonable storage capacity, making them ideal travel companions in both city traffic or longer tours. Of course, these cases are equipped with the same Monokey system that allows the bags to be opened, closed, locked, and removed with only one key. The cases lock both closed and to the rack. That's according to the website... HEY CRAIG are you reading this.... since you have the cases already mounted...are they removable as advertised AND do they have a carry handle?? reno bob wrote: smrf When you get your E 21 cases will you be able to unlock them and take them off the scoot or are the hard mounted? Far as I know all Givi bags, trunk have the same mount, so you should be able to put larger bags on. The Givi's also have built in handles and come on/off. I have a Givi set on a motorcycle.
But be forewarned, the regular Givi bags are wide and could effect your scooter handling at higher speeds. |

The mounts look great. I am overwhelmed trying to navigate the German language web page. Maybe one of the U.S. vendors out there will pick up this product. Several of them have already learned how to work the international issues. Otherwise I would not have a Fabbri wind screen and Heindenau tire.

I wish there was an American vendor too but as you can see dealing with the German companies can be a pain which is maybe why Twisted throttle stopped carrying the case...maybe.
I used Google Translate and it did a fairly decent job. Fuzzy wrote: The mounts look great. I am overwhelmed trying to navigate the German language web page. I had a big Givi on my GTS and used it sparingly... just didn't like the look of it. On the MP3 and 500, the topcase seems to fit even higher and further back which just ruins the lines for me. |

Sorry folks I haven't been following the thread. As I told Smrf in a private email, the mounts on the racks should fit any monokey case. I can take my monstrous E52 topcase and hang it on the side, because the mount is the same.
And yes, they pop right off when unlocked so you can carry them off with you. I think the reason the Fehling racks are only specified for use with the E21s is that any larger case will probably obscure the tail and signal lights from the side, so it's likely a legal/liability issue. Having said that, if you wire in some auxillary lights... There may also be an issue with cornering clearance with larger cases because, as you see, even the E21s stick out a fair way sideways. But if you're not carving any corners you should be fine. The racks attach to the frame at three points and seem solid enough to support bigger bags. I'm sorry to hear Twisted Throttle isn't carrying them anymore. Like I said, I waited about six months for them to arrive, so I'm surprised they only ordered one set. |

I've thought about saddlebags a few times because of their ease of use and wide availability in all sorts of styles. My only problem is theft could be an issue. Any saddlebags that are locked and locked onto the bike? I know they could still be cut, but I could live with that chance. Just be nice to have some that couldn't simply be opened or pulled off the bike with a quick tug.

After a few days of searching, I'm betting the only option for the 500 is to purchase a 'universal' attachment frame and get some custom bending and welding done to attach it to the 500. I haven't found any kits like they have available for the 250/400 MP3 frame style. Expensive though, so I'm considering soft cases too. Dave |

Hi Craig, if it wouldn't be too inconvenient could you snap me two photos with your sidecases off. I'd like to see what the outside side of the sidecase looks like that mounts to the chrome and of one of the chrome with the adaptor plate/base, etc.. sorry I've never had a bike or Givi luggage before so I'm still trying to understand their mounts and universal attachments. Thanks!
