Yesterday I got a flat rear tire on my 250 Super. I had the scooter towed to my house, since I planned to remove the wheel myself. So, today I tried to remove the wheel. One of the early steps in this process is to remove the exhaust. Much to my frustration, I found that Vespa used some weird bolts to secure the exhaust to its brackets. The bolts look like they would accept a hex key, but they don't. They are too shallow. Does anyone know where I can get the proper tool to remove these bolts? Do you know what they are called? Is this common for all GTS models or is this something new on the Super?
I'm guessing your super has the same exhaust as my '08 GTS so the size is T40--you can get one at any hardware store, or you can get a set of bits that fit your socket wrench.
Mine are from ACE Hardware and have bits from T10 to T60.
Thanks. They didn't look like torx at first, but now that I've looked at them again, I think you might be right. I will get some Torx sockets and give it a try.
