Hey all,

My friend just got a p200e and has been working on it a bit to get it road worthy.

Quick question - should the brake light be lit whenever the key is on, or just when the handle/pedal is engaged?

I would think that it would be on all the time and get brighter when you squeeze the brakes, but I have no idea on these old scoots.

Thanks!

There IS a tail light, which just brightens with the brake like you are expecting. The tail light is run off the battery, however, so if your friend's battery is shot the tail light, signals, and I believe horn(?) wont work at idle.

Thanks for that info.

Something is amiss then. The horn and signals work at idle, no tail light though. Not sure if the bulb is shot or something more involved...

Check the bulb. It should have two filaments in there. One may be broken. It's a standard 1157 bulb that can be purchased at auto parts stores.

Could also be the wiring. Check the hookups on the back of the taillight and tinker with the relay switch by the battery. The wiring diagrams can be a useful guide, but the wiring harness may have been modified or replaced and might not totally match up the wiring diagrams for your scooter.

In addition to this, you should check the fuse. This is something I've seen go out a couple of times already. It'll be stuffed on the left side of the battery.

My friend says start with the bulb then check the two brake switches.
