They are designed to keep sparks off your delicate pink hide, not warmth or crash protection. Don't even think the thought.

Get some elk ropers from Aerostich and some leathers from a motorcycle outfitter, maybe New Enough.

Yes, as are many, many other brands of gloves. Motorcycling apparel is a multi-katrizillion dollar industry worldwide. If you can pretty much think it, somebody's manufactured it.

go to

http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Gloves-p-1-c-301.html

to see the various gloves. Deer skin is much stronger than cowhide, and an elk is just a big deer with thicker tougher skin.

I have used the same pair of short elk ropers for many years. They feel like a second skin. Deerskin is very comfortable and protective also.

If spending money is your objective look up "Held" gloves. Outrageous.

I am also an Aerostich elfskin roper fan. After going through a number of different pairs, including several (pricey) deerskin varieties, I'm on my second pair of Aerostich elk ropers. Can't be beat for price and comfort.

As info, for anyone with unlined gloves, I recommend the silk glove liner (also from Aerostich). Makes a huge difference on longer rides.

P.S. After reading/thinking about the Held Steve gloves (kangaroo!) for awhile, I visited a dealer to check them out. Didn't like them as much as the ropers.
