haven't ridden the et2 in a week and it's left a little puddle of oil for me. looked underneath, and there's oil smack underneath the engine on the scoot. runs great, no oil light. I've had plenty of MC's and cars that leaked a little oil, but hasn't happened with the Vespa yet. how worried should I be? what should I look for? what's the most likely source? thanks a ton for the help!

I'd take a gander at the line coming from the oil tank. Could be it's cracked, or not fastened just right on the tank any more. I would certainly get that checked out, as your 2-stroke will become rather sad without its oil. Can you take a pic of where you've spotted the oil?

I will continue this abandoned thread as I have the same issue. I checked the hose and it is fine. When I look further down the hose (towards the engine) I can see that oil is not being pushed down the hose. |

oil pump
you should probably prime the oil pump. if its not getting oil, it can seize. take transmission case off, and directly below variator, is oil pump, with a bleeder screw.

I have limited tools, limited resources, and limited mech skills. Is this a relatively easy job? Thanks for your time! |

You will need a metric hex set, or a metric hex long socket set, and remove the variator cover, take a needle nose pliers and remove the hose clip, at the end of oil hose, wait til the oil runs goods, with no air bubbles in the line....Then reattach the hose........

Ill knock on some doors and borrow these tools and perform said operation. One more question before I bow out for a bit: I changed both hoses from the fuel tap (Vacuum and Fuel) because the fuel line was horribly decayed. I noticed that although both hoses were of different girth, the inner diameter was exactly the same. Is this ok? Or is the OEM set up supposed to be a little different? Thnx again guys! Saving me hours of typing random google search strings over and over again. |

Bought socket set and removed transmission/variator cover. It was stuck but found another thread that helped me remove it. Oil hose is on there pretty tight and I do not want to split or damage it. Which screw is the "bleeder screw"? Thnx for your help. |

yep, found it!
sorry for the late reply, but yes, that was the bleeder screw, not knowing the condition or age of the belt, not a bad idea to just go ahead and replace it. You can close it up and ride it until you get a new one, but may as well get a good starting point. I would say, if the oil is now flowing correctly, why not get a new belt and rollers. That way you know what you have and how long they will last.

Hey Nola
Thanks for following up and letting me know about rollers and belt. I'll do this as soon as I scape some funds together. |
