10/19-20/2008. Chula Vista, CA to El Centro, CA.

Altitude sign photos taken on the eastbound side of I-8 Freeway. The Sea Level sign is approximately 10 miles west of El Centro. The Summit sign is one of three summit signs onthe I-8 between Chula Vista and El Centro. It's a up n' down ride in the searing summer heat!

Beastie likes to hang out in the motel room with me -- with the air conditioning running full blast.

The panoramic view pix was taken from the road leading to the In-Ko-Pah monument. The In-Ko-Pah stone monument is near the summit of the first mountain range ascending out of the desert.

That's not the kind of mint I find on my pillow!

Okay...2 things...Sea level in the desert? Gotta love this country's sense of humor...

2nd and most of all...How is God's good name did you get that thing in that room? It's in the corner! I made need to know ...Is that a Murphy Bed?

The desert there is at Sea Level, Some places below Sea Level I think.

The nearby Salton Sea is at about 230 feet below sea level at the edge. Not quite as low as Death Valley (about 280 at the lowest point). The high temperatures at the Salton Sea have finally dropped below 100+ degrees this month, and it feels like springtime to me.
