I bought a membership to "The Vespa Club of America". The transaction went through on my pay pal acct. and that is where it stopped. I never recieved a email from the club or any other kind of follow up. I tried to write to a couple of people list on the site and got no reply, am I doing something wrong? Just wondering

Past discussion on this indicates that with a little patience, everything will be okay. VCOA is all volunteer.

So... remember that the VCOA is a completely volunteer group. The handful of people who try to make it work are busy folks and the VCOA isn't their first priority.
Also, i'm sure they're met with a bunch of traffic from all the new people jumping on the scooter train ... I know JD ( former president ) and Dave McCabe both post on here ...or have in the past ... but it's a pretty beleaguered group that has trouble just getting the basics done. For example, the webstore has been down for going on YEARS now. Bradford from Corazzo is at the helm now ... dunno if things will be any different. IMO, the VCOA used to have some relevance 15 years ago...when there were only hundreds of scooterists across the pre-internet country ( i.e. where only the few biggest cities could actually boast a handful of riders to have a club ). Now there's a million little clubs and a million regional rallies. Most people live pretty close to other scooterists, etc. Forums make newsletters and such completely outmoded. In my 2 cents, it's kind of an outmoded group. That said, Amerivespa still is a neat concept, and i enjoy that to the extent that i love most rallies. I've personally never been a member of the VCOA, as there's never really been a benefit to joining. For a while i was interested in joining to see back issues of the American Scooterist mag published online for members to read.... but i've been given a pile of all of them by an ex-scooterist, and i don't really know that i'm missing a whole lot at this point. I guess i'm not telling people NOT to join. You're supporting a national scooter organization ( albeit, one that allows scooters of ALL types in, not specifically vespas - an artifact again from a time when NOBODY was riding scooters and the VCOA was the only club most people could be a part of ) |

One of the clear benefits is the American Scooterist. Even though its publishing dates are somewhat erratic I have always been really pleased with the articles. For a group of time-strapped volunteers, they put together a pretty nice magazine!

Well, I wish they would get unstrapped long enough to at least acknowledge that they have my money. I "joined" at least three months ago. Not a peep.

personally, i am a member. however, i don't really see any benefit of joining at this point if you're new to it. if you search the archives of mv, you'll see that a thread like this pops up about every 6 months. nothing ever really seems to change.

VCOA membership is inexpensive and is definitely worth it. The American Scooterist magazine, although published sporadically, is always a work of art when it shows up. Your membership is valid for several issues (3 or 4?) regardless of how long they take to be published.
Also remember that the VCOA sponsors the annual AmeriVespa rally, and members get a discount. |

VCOA membership
I have been thinking of joining...of course, the serious question is...do you get a patch?(I am obsessed with patches, lol...
Actually, I was wondering if modern Vespas are welcome, and what exactly the benefits are to joining. I see from postings you get a discount on Amerivespa and a magazine...do you also get any discounts on insurance or buying from their store, etc? Thanks! Sally |

I was once part of the VCOA long ago and they had the right Idea back when there was 200 of us that were into scooters now , since there are over 10000 of us on scooter they need to (up the ante)
really it could be a fulltime Club not a Part time Club for its once a year rally and also and I told Randy this years ago it need Chapters More People, MORE GOALS |
