I have a flat rear tire, and I need to replace it. In order to do this I have to remove the exhaust. The exhaust appears to be made up of two pieces: 1) a small elbow that attaches to the engine and contains the lambda probe, and 2) the rest of the muffler/pipe. I assume this is the same exhaust as the regular 250 GTSie. I did a search and found a lot of posts about how you must replace the gasket ($30 part) that joins the two sections of the exhaust, whenever you remove the muffler/pipe. I also read that there was some type of recall or notice sent to dealers about the problem. So, does anyone know if replacing this gasket is still required with the newer scoots? Can I avoid the problem by just removing the entire exhaust in one piece, i.e., don't separate the two sections?

Yes. A 6" wobble extension for your 1/4 socket driver makes the job easy. A touch of anti-seize grease on the studs, when you re-assemble, makes subsequent removal much easier also.
