Hello All,

I'm 6ft tall and I'm finding that I'm not comfortable with the existing mirrors and their location on the MP3 500. They cause me to lower my line of sight or to even look down to see behind or to my side. This action takes my eyes off the traffic in front of me for a second or two (not good). I sit upright and would prefer to have the mirrors located higher up and closer to the center of the bike as well so I can scan them without moving my head too far.

Aside from bending the bars that attach the mirrors to the handlebars, has anyone else come up with a solution for this? BTW I did install the Saeng wideview mirrors and they do help, but they are fairly small in size.

Thanks in advance.

Jim,

I am in the same position, but I am 6'4" tall. I also own a Honda Silver Wing. Its mirrors are bigger/rectangular and, on the Silver Wing, you sit more down "in" it rather than "on" it like on the MP3, which means that the mirrors are more at eye level rather than chest level on the MP3. If you find a good solution, I would be very interested.

Thanks,

At the very least, you can rotate them forward. Just loosen the nut underneath the handlebars that hold them. This will bring them more into your line of sight. The bars could also be bent upward, though I would be very careful attempting this.

Thanks yes, rotating the bars/mirrors forward will help a bit, but they are still too low.

I would prefer to have something like on the Gilera 800. They are farther forward and more in your line of site.

Strangely I prefer the Fuoco mirrors to the GP800 ones. Yes they are not in the best position for a 0.1 second glance - but they are fine for a slight move of the head and a 0.2 second glance. That move of the head gives info to other riders/drivers, if they are plugged into real life at the time.

I do have to make sure the supports are in line with each other to give the best view.

Looks like there is no real alternative yet?

I'm 192cm (~6.3ft) and have quite wide shoulders, so my mirror views are 25-30% occupied by my own arms. That's just unsafe. I simply cannot see the line behind me.

What I'm looking for is a drop-in replacement for standard mirrors, just having longer arms and, may be, bigger.

Any help please?

P.S. MP3 250

P.P.S. Just found these extensions: http://www.dr650mirrorextensions.com/ Going to check if they can fit to my MP3, and, if not, are there more like those...

I'm in the same boat as you but just stuck on a couple of little adjustable wide-angle mirrors in the otherwise useless inner area of the OEM mirrors.

Vlad,

Those extensions look like a great solution. Let me know what you find out... if you order them, which model and how they work. I will definitely get a pair if they perform as advertised.
