There's probably a better description elsewhere on this forum, but the rear hatch will open even with a dead battery, by turning the key in the ignition, I think it's backwards.

Once the back hatch (pet carrier, I think) is open, reach your hand in near where the back edge of the seat. There is a ridge there with a little spring and what feels like a cable. Move your hand along this cable and it's fittings and if anything sticks out, move it to the side, the seat latch will eventually pop. Was that scientific enough for you, "wiggle your hand around" lol.

Do a search and you will get a better set of instructions.

I forgot all about using the key in the ignition as I have never used that feature.

I ended up having an internal short on the battery, it's only 6 months old and have about 2800 miles on it and I ride the scoot everyday pretty much
everyday. I have never had a vehicle battery die that quick.

When you get the new battery make sure you have it sit for an hour or more once you've filled it. Tap the side every so often to make sure there are no bubbles clinging to the plates. A battery will have voltage if left like this before attaching it to a charger.

Once you've waited, charge it up and that battery provided it's a Yuasa or equivilent battery should last a few years. Remember to top up the fluids if it isn't a maintenence free battery.
