Are they matt or gloss? Or is it whichever one Piaggio is in the mood for at the factory?

The first ones were gloss.

Must have been too expensive as all the later ones seem to be matt.

Not sure.

I do like the diamond cut alloy rim on the gloss version. This is notorious for corroding under the clearcoat, so is not very durable, as well as being expensive to produce.

The matt rims have a metallic powder coat at the edge. This will definitely be more durable, though I am not sure about the matt centres. They seem to scuff easily.

If (when?) I get a black GTS, it will be painted matte black to match the newer version of the rims and some red pinstriping added.

p.s...who's matt?

I would call that the Atlantic language barrier. Matte doesn't exist over here

WTF.............
The matt black is my 300 Super Laughing emoticon
Anyway, the first batch of 300's had gloss black wheels, when you buy a new you'll get the matt black.

Also I have seen some 300's with gloss footpegs and some with the (250) matt footpegs...........

Reckon it's a missed opportunity for Piaggio to have launch some special edition 300s with gloss wheels and maybe some leather access panels below the headset and leather footboard strips, handlebar grips etc.

I like both equally, though more durable sounds like a winner as I do rather rack up the miles!
