I have the two stock mirrors on my GT200 (and I intend to keep them installed), but when I'm leaning-in behind the wind screen to reduce drag while going fast, I can't see the traffic behind me using those two mirrors. So, I'm thinking about attaching a couple of 'bolt-on' mirrors to the existing mirror posts that can be adjusted for this angle while leaning-in. Has anyone already done this? Do you have any recommendations, alternatives or thoughts to share?
Thanks.
Mike

If you lane split, I would try to keep the new mirrors inboard so as not to increase the width of the scoot running between traffic.

The stock mirrors are great, it sounds like additional mirrors are leaning toward using mirrors solely instead of turning your head and looking behind you. If that is the case you are making a huge mistake. I would never change lanes or turn without turning my head and looking after I checked the mirrors, to do otherwise is a death wish. Have you considered those little stick on dome mirrors that you can put onto your stock mirrors? They make them specially for bikes and you can get them at a motorcycle shop.

You could install Bar end mirror(s) adjusted to your tucked eye line.
How To: Install Oberon Bar-End Mirrors
There are other bolt on types of bar end mirrors too. Search and ye shall find....

That's an assumption... ask, don't assume. With a full face helmet on, I have to lean down and turn my shoulders and head. I still have limited vision. Anything to improve safety, including adding mirror is good, no?

Nettie,
I was replying to Got'aScoot's post not yours but in any case additional vision with an additional mirror would probably be safer, you are right there. My point was that one should not rely too heavily on mirrors, that's all. Ride safe out there.

I'm concerned with the size of the stick-ons overwhelming them. Still standing by the bike debating with myself (that's easy and often). Though I love looking at the vintage scoots with the peacock effect of mirrors flung out in every direction, I would think that is expensive, too heavy and awkward for highway commuting, and I don't have the chutzpah for it LOL.

I've seen the stick on type little dome mirrors at auto stores and they seem to be about 2 inches or so in diameter, the ones I saw at the motorcycle store were only about an inch or so in diameter, very very small. I don't know how useful they are that small but they really weren't very expensive, either way you can give them a try and if you don't like them just take them off again. I looked at changing mirrors on my GT 200 when I first got it but every option seemed to reduce either what I could see or make it more difficult to use the mirror. I hope you find something you like.
