Tonight, I was at the Whole Foods flagship store and this woman was eating dressed in total matching gear; pants, jacket, boots and nearby helmet. As I was leaving I saw her walking out and since I had to follow due to the parking garage traffic flow, I thought, "Oh cool, I bet she has a neat bike, now I'll get to see it." Then, she walked up, unlocked the DOOR and got into her Toyota Corolla. (There was a bicycle in the back...?)

Isn't Whole Foods the outfit that makes their lobsters do yoga every day and sign a Do Not Resuscitate declaration?

I like that 3rd video
It was probably mountain biking gear... a lot of the stuff looks like dirtbike stuff and is made by those companies (Fox, Alipinestars, Sidi, etc). |

In defense of the Whole Foods flagship store, it is an AMAZING (highly overpriced) store and nothing like any other Whole Foods I've ever been to. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town. |

Plus the parking garage even has corn fed organic sculptures. I do agree it is an amazing store.

I was in our local Fresh Market today and was using my helmet as a shopping basket. Funny.

haha I use it to carry my sunglasses and gloves when I go in somewhere. But now that I have my topcase I'll leave it in there.

Maybe it was the Stig's girlfriend then??? She's contractually allowed to remove her helmet to eat to avoid video #3.

That's what I miss the most about the good ol' Republic O' Texas. Then again 6th st on Halloween to me is like a diabetic in a candy store. So bad...yet so good. And kids remember to keep your hands to yourself

I've ridden the NYC subway with full motorcycle gear (jacket, boots, gloves, helmet) after dropping off my scooter for servicing or repair. I carried my helmet rather than wore it, and put my gloves in my helmet, but I could see how if I were carrying something else already that I might put them on to have my hands free. It's all fun and games until you get heckled by the teenagers getting out of school who grew up watching Power Rangers. |

So some dude in a cube van heading in the opposite direction gives me a huge thumbs-up and was grinning from ear-to-ear. I still don't know if he was (a) making fun of me, thinking I broke down somewhere or (b) a fellow two-wheel rider, supporting my choice of transportation. |

If you like rock a billy at all you should check out The Flametrick Subs. I dated the drummer for awhile, she and the band are from Austin and play at Beerland on red river ( I think thats the street) a lot.

Ten years ago I moved from Austin to NYC. Whole Foods was just the granola grocery store when I left. I thought it was so odd that everyone made a fuss about it when they put one in at Columbus Circle in new york. I move back to Austin last year and Whole Foods is all yuppified. Central Market was still the same though, happily. If the woman wouldn't have gotten into her car I could've understood the gear. Cagers seem rather rough on bicyclists here (well, really anything on two wheels). |
