hi,
i have downloaded a free softcopy of workshop manual from the tech library but instructions are very brief and sparse.
i am thinkig of purchasing haynes repair manual, which i am hoping has better instructions and more information. am i right?
also, searching through Haynes website, i see only manuals for 06 models and older. do these manuals apply to the newer models as well? wonder why they don't have edition for the new models.....

thank you in advance.

What model do you have? I have the Haynes for the LEADERs (and maybe some other models). It's got some good stuff not in the service manual, but it's very hard to find model-specific stuff and at times it's pretty broad. The organization is just a mess.

Haynes has good and not so good aspects, and of course, there are differences based on the machine for which it is intended.

My Haynes PX manual gives great detail on how to remove the wheels from the spindles, but no info on how to reassemble them, for example. I may have missed it, but I don't think so.

But, for what they cost, no one should go without a Haynes as a part of their tech library. By themselves, however, they do not constitute a satisfactory full library.

I use both together, as they both offer information that is not in the other.

The one I linked to above should be relevant for any Piaggio/Vespa/Aprilia 50/125/150 with a Hi-PER or LEADER engine. That covers a wide selection of past and current (pretty much everything that doesn't have a QUASAR or MASTER engine) models.

Why would you need that? Vespa stopped making real scooters in 2007

is Haynes repair manual better than the free workshop manual
thank you for your replies.

i have an '06 fly 150.

Haynes publishes 2 manuals.

1. Repair Manual Piaggio Typhoon, Sfera, Zip, Fly, Skipper, Hexagon, Liberty, NRG, B125, X8, X9 1991-2006, Vespa 1996-2006

2. Scooters with Automatic Transmission 50 to 250 CC Haynes Techbook.

according to the description, first manual covers fly 125, and the second covers fly 150 but only up to '05 model.
would the best choice be the the first book?? my impression is that the first book has more discussions on basic maintainance, which is what i am looking for.

just out of curiousity, why are there no repair manuals for models new than 06?

thank you in advance.

The Haynes manual is from the UK (I believe) where 125cc machines are the norm instead of 150cc machines here in N.America. I'm betting that the information on the Fly 125 is the same as the Fly 150.

+1 Get Both - they sort of compliment each other.

You want the first one. I use it for my LX 150, which is pretty much the same as the Fly.
