I am sure this has been beaten to death but I need to know. I have about a month left to decide if I want to purchase the extended warranty. My question is not if it is worth it, but who has had to get warranty work done. If you had to get warranty work done what was it and how much would it have cost without the warranty?

You will be feelin great if you get it. I had my key imobilizer go out , along with several other forum members. Took two days and lots of removal of plastic and this was a top notch shop. This was when it was brand new, so regular warranty still applied. Sure was nice to get that phone call saying your bike is fixed, and there will be no charge, sweet. And this wasn't even the original dealer. I don't want to even no what that would have cost. Since I presume you've made it through that original break in period, 1yr. I might pass. I haven't had any issues for 12,000 m. Hope this helps |

I think of it as insurance. If the extended warranty period passes and you never use it, the payment was far enough in the past that it doesn't hurt much. But if you do use it, with a bike this complex and parts and labor so expensive, it can pay for itself with a single repair!
I'm 10K away from expiration on my car's 100K OEM extended warranty (which cost a lot more than the Piaggio e.w.); haven't needed it, but still no regrets. |

I was thinking about buying the extended warrnty but the dealer was actually discouraging it. He said these bikes are so well made they don't have a lot of problems.
I called another dealer in town and he said definitely get it. I wonder what's up with the disagreement. Is there any advantage for the first dealer to not sell the extended warranty? Maybe he gets makes more from repairs that are paid by the customer versus repairs paid by Piaggio?? |

OR from what I have read here, Piaggio Warranty claims sound like they are a pain in the ass and he doesn't want to deal with it. Wayne B |

I don't buy extended warranties for anything. But I also don't yet have an MP3 so my vote might not count. If I get a new one, I will not buy an extended warranty.

I have had the bike for about 2 months and I ride it a lot. I had over 1100 miles in the first month. I do think that if something goes wrong it will be in the first year.

I picked up the extended warranty for about the same price as Wayne. Since I don't wrench, I thought it to be a necessary item. So far, 2200 miles, have not had to use it.
