My baby* lives outside, and I guess the weather has effected the brakes. I didn't see many topics on the subject of squealing brakes, but it doesn't seem like a dangerous problem, from what I read, but it just really cheapens the thrill. I've always associated squealing brakes with cheap rides, so it's something I'm having a hard time getting over.

It is only the front brake, so I -can- come to a stop without having to hear it, and it doesn't happen all the time when I use the front brake, just slower speeds mostly. I'd really love to hear that, yes, there is an inexpensive way to stop the noise, but I fear the worst.

* - and by "baby" I do mean my scooter.

Still low mileage on your Fly? The fronts on my LX squeaked like mad for the first few months of ownership. Now, with 3400+ miles on the clock and 1.5 years into ownership - nada. Zero squeaking. I don't remember exactly when it stopped, but just know that it'll go away - eventually!

If it's any consolation, I did a thorough 12,000 mile service and swapped out the pads front and rear. Now the front squeals like mad. Before I swap the old pads back in, I'm going to sand on them a little.

BTW: I'm sure your fingers just took a moment off. it's BRAKEs. As in, I hope my brakes don't break.

Copper grease (Coppaslip or similar) smeared on the backs of the brake pads (not the side you brake with!) is supposed to prevent squeaking. I did this on mine and it worked for a while; they're squeaky again now, but need changing again anyway.
