That blue on the headset is the original color for that bike.
You going for a restoration or are you doing something different? |

Yea, that's an extra headset that I got in a box of other stuff.
I got the high beam gem in green, too, I bought from a cat in the UK. I'm not going for a restore, but a custom look. I saw a beautiful picture on an Italian vespa site. I'll attach a pic. It's 2 tone, and very classy. Tell me what you guys think... |

Hey sfarchie, maybe you might know this:
My frame vin is VA11t * 42468 In all the vin references I've looked at, it says: 61/62 Allstate. Which is it? 61 or 62? And the body I was told is comparable to a VNB1T Vespa. Is that accurate? And finally, how do I get the choke control which is a pull lever attached to the seat , run to the choke? Again, everyone, please be patient with me, I'm a scooter virgin. -David |

Eh...I'm not into the cream puff look. I like Vespas that are 1 color, minimal or no chrome, and clean with out any bullshit asian junk bolted to the bike. To each their own though...just my 2 cents

I'd say 1961 ( because of the round tail )
In fact, i'd even say it was likely produced in 1960 in Italy and sold through sears in the year 1961. from this site : http://www.vespaclub.com/tutte.html Moving on - you've got one of those under-the seat chokes, which are basically a little metal rod that you lift to actuate the choke. There's a short choke cable ( that might be a pain in the ass to find ...or else you'll have to take a standard largeframe choke cable and make one yourself by cutting it down ) that basically just loops around the metal lever under the seat and then runs down into the frame and to the choke plunger on the carb. |

I definitely don't want to be a "Creampuff" nor a asian rip off...
I am NOT puting any accessories on it, either. Why is the 2 tone their mark? |

But for what it is worth, I am redoing my paint into a two-tone paint job. I'm born and raised in America... I just think it'll look good. You asked for opinions and got opinions, but if you do a nice job most folks will appreciate your choice at the end of the day, be it one color or two! Keep us updated on your choice!

I think it would be cool to do some research and see what color options came in that year Allstate and try to find a color match of your choice. A 2 tone paint job on an Allstate just wouldn't look right. I would really like to take on a project and restore it to OG status one of these days. Good luck with your project, it actually looks like a lot of fun.

i'm not into two tone at all either, but that light blue/white is very subtle and i love love it. do what you want with it, it's yours.
i had a 61 allstate project once too, but i sold it to a friend who ended up donating most of it to a clubmate who needed a scoot. |

Its a long shot. But worth a try. By chance do you have a headset for sale? Preferably blue. Talk about a long shot here. Thanks!

Sorry, mate.
No more spare parts. Finished the project about 2.5 years ago. It's a great scoot and tons of fun. You're at the right place for info and parts. Look around the sight and talk to everyone. Good, friendly and knowledgable. Cheers. -David |
