I would like to draw your attention to an interesting travel report I found on an Italian scooterists' site, Cyberscooter.
Newly-wed Luigi and Maria Rita travelled across The States in a coast-to-coast trip on their Piaggio BV500.
Beside the fact that I would like to do it too, this report clearly shows that is possible to make very long trips with a relatively utilitarian scooter, with no mechanical problems.
Actually, during their group travel they write the only bikes to have had problems have been two expensive and big BMWs.....

My only concern about traveling long distance on my scoot, would be the freaken belt. Especially since they have to be replaced after 5000 miles.

Other than that I would trust my scoot.

It sounded like a great trip across the US. Nice honeymoon. I'm jealous. Mine was only a fraction as long and done in a car rather than a scooter, although I'm not sure about riding 2 up for that trip. Perhaps the bride and groom had separate BV 500's?
