I love the sound of my 250 exhaust/engine at speed. Its a soothing whirrrr.

Does the 500 have a "throatier" or more sport-oriented sound because of the higher power and more sporting intent?

Thanks for the info.

It's a larger displacement engine, with a deeper note. Not louder, neccesarily, just a bit deeper.

The 500 is a lot deeper, and louder, but the loud part only last for the first 500-700 ish miles where it mellows out and becomes less distinguishable from the 250. But boy, when I first got it, the rumble and pops were awesome!

My new 500 POPs a lot when slowing to a stop - when the clutch finally disengages around 15km/hr. Does this go away in time?

500-700 miles in usually. Mine really lasted a little all the way to 1K. I wish they were permanent. Trust me, you'll miss them when you're scooter gets to the point where it makes virtually no noise.

That is probably the point at which you might consider an after market pipe. Granted, they do little, if anything, for performance, but the sound sure is sweet, and if you remove the restrictor, damn that thing is LOUD!!!!!

I loved the LV on my GTS - the sound was wicked, and the extra power was well worth the $$$.

I might only have a week on the 500, but this thing seems to have enough power that I really don't care how quiet the pipe might be... If the pops go away, I love the idea of a sleeper that you can't hear flying past you
