Its a common problem, but it should just bolt right back in again without too much worry.

Yay!
Have been following this thread, and am pleased you're mobile. Respect to Fab D!
FWIW, the first time I re-fitted an exhaust I had farty loud noises as I hadn't tightened it up enough. Geeza |

Pan Its more of an "alignment" problem, the two front studs where it fits at the engine never seem to be on the same "axis" as the 2 mounting bracket bolts at the rear where the silencer fits near the wheel. What I did (especially with my Frankenstein Giannelli exhaust) was to hang the exhaust over the two rear bolts without them being tightened at all, then offered up the exhaust to the engine and tightened the 2 studs so that it was the snuggest fit I could get it to be, then tightened the rear bolts/nuts and applied washers to get it to fit better if you see what I mean, in fact with the Frankenstein I made two little "drop" brackets so that it was at the exact angle/height that I needed to make it right! Hope this helps Fabio . |

Update
Sorry for the delay--been busy all week, and didn't want to work hard on tightening the exhaust up since I needed to remove, sand, and apply VHT anyway (+ add cotter pin to back wheel's axle nut).
Anyway, I think I found the real problem: A small crack that is right at the base of where the pipe goes into the engine! I could be wrong here but it totally makes sense. I'm guessing the crack happened at some point when I was first taking it off. Anyway, I'll search the forums, I'm sure someone has a solution to this problem--I'm hoping there's some kind of heat-resistant "patch" I can apply--something easier than welding.... Anyway, I'm psyched I found the problem!! The culprit?

Update
Not sure if people are still interested in hearing about my problems If not I'll stop posting in this thread, esp. since this thread was about my first problem which was solved.
ANYway....so I covered the header in exhaust metal repair but it busted very quickly. Got a cheap used stock pipe locally. Now I'm looking for a Leo Vince SP3 cheap enough that the wife will let me buy it But once I get the stock one on my scoot should be quite drivable!! Michael |

I found this by searching spline pictures through google. Anyone have a good title so others can find this? I had about the same exact thread recently just a little further in the process... I actually bought a replacement clutch bell. ouch! Would love people to be able to find this because it seems to be tough to diagnose worn splines for the newbie, and some hardcore scooter guys...

Lol, I was going to ask how I could change the topic of my thread, then realized that I hijacked this zombie from someone else!
If there's a way to make this thread more helpful to people I'm all about it...but I don't know how, perhaps ask an admin? |
