I have used the search function to try and remedy my problem, but because of security reasons, I guess any solutions need to be replied as a PM to poster.

I did PM JIMC and JIMH, jimc did pm me his cell# but I haven't been able to hook up w/him. Jimh I just pm'd last night and haven't heard from him. They are probably busy or out of town.

So I will put this out to the community and hopefully someone will see this and pm me the solution. This has been discussed a few times before and there is a way to unlock the seat w/out the electronic seat release button or the manual release lever. Anyway this is what happened w/my GT200 and the email I sent to both Jim's...

I bought an 06 GT200 from someone awhile back, and he mentioned to me that at times when raising the seat, the latch would lock its self in the closed position and you wouldn't be able to lock the seat in the down position. He showed me how to unlatch the catch by pushing on something beneath the latch mechanism w/an ice pick, but after 6 months I forgot what he had showed me.

Anyway, I finally just pried up on the latch w/a screw driver, got it into a slight open position, dropped the seat down, it latched and locked, but now I can't get it to unlatch; either with the button or the manual release. I tried pulling on the manual cable as far as it would go, and at the same time trying to pry up the back of the seat, hoping the latch would be forced open, but no luck.

One thing, when the seat was in the raised position, and the latch in the locked position, using the button wouldn't release the lock. When I pressed the button, I would hear the mechanism working, but the latch would not move. I didn't try the manual release at that time, so I don't know if that would have released the latch when the seat was in the raised position.

Any ideas?

Not to pass judgment, but you will likely find that this type of question is not going to attract many responders due to concerns about theft. The best advice that I can offer is for you to take it to a dealer, or repair facility, where they will readily show you what is to be done. If you are having a persistent or recurring problem with your seat latch, this is the best option. I hope that you get the problem set right.

Sorry about my lack of reply - I was out of the country when you PM'd me and I figured it was a bit late to reply when I got back.

It sounds like your seat release mechanism has not been maintained properly. Find a good mechanic...
