Please, please, take the Natchez Trace Parkway and/or the Blue Ridge Parkway and/or the Skyline Drive to get from LA to VA and back.

Its the only way to do it......particularly on two wheels

Most of I-81 these days is heavy truck traffic bumper to bumper. Not fun.

While the scenic routes would be nice this trip will be to get from point A to point B. Looking at 27 hours driving time. Adding in the stops for fuel, food, and rest and then a few hours sleep overnight will be the trip. Then a few days later it'll be the same thing in reverse. Other than visiting with family while I'm there time for other things will be limited possibly even non existent. That just goes with the territory of being the only one 1400 miles from home.

Thanks a lot. It's good to be here.

Hagerstown is about an hour north. I had intended to ride it home, but the rain intervened, so I had to trailer it and postpone the first ride.
Chris,

I'm living in Baton Rouge, LA now but I'm originally from Hawthorne, NJ.

When I go home a large part of my trip is up I-81. While I haven't done it yet I'm planning a trip home on my 07 BV 250. Due to the time limit of my trip I have to take interstates all the way there and back.

As I finalize the details I'll let some here know my itinerary.

May have time to stop and have a cup of coffee with you. Who knows.
Hey DoorBuster, seein' as we're neighbors, maybe we can ride together some time. Are you going on Ed's big ride to St. Francisville next Sunday?

While I would like to say yes, I'm going to have to wait and see what my work schedule turns out to be like.

I'm expecting to have more claims from Gustav and Ike to inspect.

It's possible that I may even get called out of town to do inspections.

The good news with this is the pay is good. The bad news is I had to purchase a cage for work because I have to carry a ladder. Crying or Very sad emoticon
