Yes it was a trifle windy but it wasn't really a bother because I was enjoying the ride so much. I'm not saying I'm totally connected to it yet but it took a big step forward today. There is still a bias for leaning right rather than left but maybe that's either the very slight difference in the handlebars or the front wheel camber or me just being a pillock.
The Savas just feel plain weird when the road was damp but I'll replace them with "branded" tyres when they need it.
Yes I was piloting it with a smile on my face.

Thanks for that.

I've stepped away from the calculator. Numerical reasoning is now over for the day (apart from trying to convert the recipe for the biriani I'm planning to make for tonight from metric to good old lbs and ozs).

Hurrah, glad you and Wang Chung have clicked! Bit of a windy ride, was it? My ride in certainly was.
I had a windy ride in as well.

there was a mad little mini-tornado going on at the junction of abbey road and belsize road on my journey in this morning. a few of us were stopped at the traffic lights, watching this enormous pile of leaves get whirled round and round the intersection and up into the air. it was so hypnotic that we were still stood there gaping at it long after the lights had turned green.

about five minutes later i saw dessa going full pelt down abbey road .... almost hooted but you had a very focused look on your face, i didn't want to distract you

Next time maybe ? I've got a friend building a house on the Dover Road so I thought it would make a good excuse for a good ride out and visit.
Odd experience while having breakfast in Cafe Rouge I was wished Bon Appetite by a Polish waitress in a French themed resturant will being surrounded by Americans in an English City.
Now would you all agree that a smoked fly screen would look awful on Wang Chung and a clear screen would look so much better.
I'm looking at the graphic designers for thier thoughts on this one.
Dessa when's the next meeting of the Dokie Skok 12 or more ?

Fly screen: yes!
Clear: absolutely. It leaves plenty of room to show off the DSSC sticker. (Have you seen the bottom-half-coloured/top-half clear fly screens? Maybe diff. to get a colour that suits the green. Just a thought.)

Mortgages are just mortgages of yourself - you are mortgaging your ability to pay something for 25 years. I like that cost to be as low as possible, not seven times income or any of that financial nuttiness encouraged in "LOCATION, RECESSION, REPOSESSION".
by the time i manage to scrape together a downpayment that the banks won't laugh at, i'm going to be too damn old for anyone to consider me a good risk for a mortgage if i stay in this country it's a lifetime of renting for me, i'm afraid. Crying or Very sad emoticon
ditto, I can barely save £100 for next month's "special purchase", let alone 50k.... Crying or Very sad emoticon

ahh it involves many things...
new jacket, shoes, boots, this and that.
now that "next month" is christmas I'm working out who I'm getting pressies for and what and so forth.
using up all the "mega days" and vouchers offered by us desperate high-streeters.
by the way BHS MEGA WEEKEND this weekend, 20% off, grab your singing plastic Santa and your chocolate willies along with some nice bit of underwear (don't forget, available up to J cups) to help your poor friend

anyway - the get together, I have two questions for you to debate in the next 5 pages...
1) what's a good day?? (I can't do the 3rd, 4th, of that saturday 6th, nor 10th, 11th so far that I can remember)
2) how about Hampstead

aaagghghhh pressure!!!

well - I think December starts to get a bit manic, how's next Sunday for everyone?

When: 30-November-08
Where: Hampstead or Highgate somewhere (I'll ride around to see a nice one we can park the scoots easily and that has nice food)

if not, how's the 7-Dec Sunday?

Clear it is then. Dessa how about early nexy year when people have done all of thier Christmas Shopping and socialising and stuff.
You know how busy all the popluar people are leading up to Crimbo.
I don't know what that's like but maybe it would take the pressure off you a bit if we waited until 09?
Just a thought.
By the way I had a lovely ride down to Tunbridge Wells today in the freezing cold eventhough it was freezing cold.

not a bad idea, I agree, just have several work thingies coming up and lots of prepping before going off to see my family so actually we could do a "beat the january blues meet up" so we have something to look forward to when all that's left is another 4 months of cold and rain, no holidays and lots of work and feeling depressed and fat.

in which case...

how's everyone's idea on: 17-Jan?
Saturday - bet the blues!

Made it back from the depths of Dorset freezing wet going down there... quite honestly a crap weekend, think i've grown out of the traditional scooter scene, last one ever for me, I don't think i'll be missed.

I think it was the coming together of the DonkieSkok SC thats done it.. much more civalised ,, great bunch of people ,, thank you one and all.

And yes the ride back......was wet and freezing all the way back but I have to say the Nexus has absolutely excelled. Brilliant scooter.

Now with much regret I'm going to have to give the next scheduled meet a miss as January and perhaps February look to be very busy. I'm going to be very sad.... but absence makes the heart grow fonder so i'm told.

Regards to all........

Oh Border I was thinking about you in all these crappy conditions over the weekend. I cancelled my ride to Brighton on Saturday because it was just a bit too parky.
I'll be in touch about a weekend meet sometime soon huh ?
Sorry about your crappy weekend. Why not just stick with the Donkieskok ?

Bill what can I say .... I am honoured and glad to be accosiated with Donkie Skok SC and I have to say I thoroughly look forward to the next meet. I will certainly try for the 17/01/09 although I can make no promises
I will certainly try It would be penciled in in my diary but i do not yet have a 2009 edition.......hahahahaha

Ride there and back this weekend was great apart from having to wait for two lambrettas that had to fill up with petrol 3 times in 75 miles.. Nexus was truly magic, and the ride back this morning was equally as enjoying and much better on my own.

I'm going to share this weekend with you all to see if it's me or not.

This weekend was one of many on the traditional scooter scene where "scooterists" if you can call them that in the true sense of the word, converge on a given venue look at vintage scooters thru blinkered lenses. two conversations this weekend -- Quote 1." I'm going to start a sccoter club, as if there are not enuff already, that is lambrettas only... no vespas and definately no autos....jeez !! Quote 2. " A club made , reinforce made, a long standing club member sell his newly aquired (3 weeks old) Vespa GTS250 because it was an auto and no way were they allowing that kind of thing in their club, and the mug did it. !!

Sorry for having a rant.. but I also witnessed a number of punch ups one in particular was 3 against 1 because this one particular chap came from the "wrong town".

Donkie Skok forever...... hoooorah. p.s when is the 17th is it a Saturday ? and where is Hampstead... is it another 200 mile round trip for me ?

I just been looking at this thread ....now correct me if I'm wrong but Bill started this on the 25th October and I'm pretty sure we managed to stay on the front page for nearly a month. Wow.
