EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!
VERY EXCITING NEWS!!!!!

Got myself a new ride!!!!!!!
But I will wait to reveal when she's home with mama tomorrow....just to keep the suspense going... aaaaaaaaahhhhh
She's getting extra bits put on.......

Now I need a name!
What can we call her?

I know you probably want to see it before naming it.

I also said my goodbyes to Shirley Mary for the last time. She had tubes coming out of her and all. But she's going to be put together again to be collected tomorrow to go to her retirement home. She will have a nice end of life there, with dignity and comfort.

Names: I had Trixie (SpeedRacer's girlfriend), Sadie (as in Sexy Sadie Beatles' White Album, but that's grown off now, she's more racy like), something with the T or the K as her reg plate has on the second line D (for Dessa) then TK, so her full name could be T... K... Trixie Katherine...
it has to be a friendly name, not too sexy, she's my friend! Laughing emoticon Razz emoticon

I'll give a hint, I like something Ferrari related, but it has to be a girl's name (even though Massa sprang to mind!!!!!!! Razz emoticon)

Cannot wait to ride her around and for you lot to meet her.
ahhhh our next meet will be one full of joy and new friends!
woooo I'm so excited, can't take the smile off my face!

thanks!

no, the place I got it from (see how I'm keeping the suspense going) offered a bit more cash for it and will sort it all out, so that's worked out handy. Even my Thermoscud's gone in with the deal
I'm very pleased!

I said tomorrow but I mean Monday eve, so you will get details throughout the week.......

These aren't my personal kinks - they were commissions. I prefer politicians with their clothes on, no exceptions!

I think the Boris picture looks a bit like Christos.

Dessa seems very excited but in the words of Toyah Wilcox - It's a mythteree it's a mytheree.
I can't wait to find out what it is. Go on I'll be your best friend.

Yes I wear leathers and I'm going to put it to a vote as if I wear them next time.
I'm counting on you Doug.

Do Doug and Charles want to come on any of our European jaunts now they are both back in fashion ?

OK after we've been to Le Touquet and Ypres,Oostende and Brugges would anyone be interested in a ride along the coast on the Romney Hythe and Dymcurch Miniature Railway ?
Alright granted it's a bit of a wierd day out and the ride does terminate at a power station, a pebble beach, a lighthouse and great cafe full of elderly people but it could be a laugh for those who would like to re-live thier childhood.
For those of you who weren't brought up by wolves that is. Oh happy days.

Doug hasn't got a passport at the mo so that needs sorting out. Expired last year and never got round to it....

Come on Dessa, tell us what you've bought!

I spent this morning lying underneath the 300 for the second time in three months putting rear wheel and exhaust back on after the puncture. God it was cold today. My thermometer never got above -1....

Was awful riding, visor got cloudy as expected when it's cold, tried to open visor to clear it- nothing happens. When I stopped realized it was ice forming on it

Dessa, you know what I mean!

Heated grips are these http://tinyurl.com/8bthgn - I have perfected the install on a GTS and happy to give you some guidance if you get them as there are a few tricks to getting them installed (knitting needles and hairspray believe it or not). Work well and look great (invisible) and neat way to mount the switch in the headset. Not sure how to do it on Alex's bike though - only Italian ones!!

Kam, I have my eye on the date for the second longer trip. Will need to make a decision a bit nearer to the time. Also, finding details in 12 pages of gibberish can be a bit of a challenge as the thread dives all over the place. (Do you want to meet us with a few other families camping on one of the May bank holidays? Probably Wellington Country Park or Cotswold View, everyone else may join but there will be loads of kids present and no scooters).

the grips look interesting but yeah, a bit fiddly...
his bike is italian too! aprilia!

he checked out the muffs and liked the very furry one, so might just get him those, no electrical needed...
though I think like genie, the heated grips + muffs combo is the warmest

i'm so excited about my new bike I cannot tell you!

oh ok ok!!!!!
I CAN'T HOLD IT ANY LONGER!!!

It's a mighty red LX125cc 2008 (she's a gemini, reg 25-May-08 ), 2000km on the clock, not a scratch, tan seat.... *sighs*.... a beauty....
I feel so posh now, I said "I want the top box, I want the little windscreen, I want a Thermoscud", got all those thrown in, they took care of Shirley for more money than anyone had offered and so tomorrow I'll pick up my very own "like new' Vespa!!!
I'm so proud of myself!

I know LX's are "so last year" for most of you, but now I'll tell you the twist
Rex Judd (if anyone is interested) has a LOVELY GTS red 125cc with topbox, black seat and back rest, 8000km on the clock 2007 for a really good price. I was really torn, but decided to go with the LX, although the GT didn't feel massive as I thought.
I'm so happy with my choice and the guys I bought it from offered me the best deal, my heart was really on the LX, the tan seat was too lovely

the old Thermoscud is going with it, so I won't even need to bother selling it else where

I'm very glad to share the news with you and thanks for feeding the passion on me, my new baby bike will be part of many trips to come this year!
(I'm booking my theory test again just now, so I can make full use of my - get me - 125cc!!)
I'm like a grown up now.

I was thinking the same for a while... don't know if I should keep it (because it's easier but also in memory of my first scooter) or if I should change it to keep up with the program, would need help from the "administrators, moderators" alike as I don't have such power in this forum

I think you've made a very good choice.

I love that picture of Wonder Machine although the pose wouldn't look out of place on the front row of a Billy Graham seminar.
Give me a siiiigggnnnn.
Just a joke from the non-believers.

Genie and Huskyteer - when all the trips abroad have been completed I'll start looking for a weekend when you are free and we can ride south for some immature fun.

Great purchase - well done superb.... we ll it's a fair few of us that have newish machines- mine has only a mere 900 miles -bill's is new to him, Genie and her 200 , it's the all new DKSC ...

I've got over my urge from the other day too.... not going to get another big bike......... shared a bottle of jack daniels with the nexus in the garage the other night.... we have bonded once again. and she looked better the next morning than i did.(Bills comments on "it's a girls machine" really got me- sniff).

I'll be there for the run in the sun to romney and wherever it was..... i'll have to look at a map to actually see where I've just volunteered to go... probably a few hundered miles for me.

Ride safe gang.

Great news Dessa. Looking forward to speedier rides with you. Razz emoticon

I've been away for a couple of days at the Brass Monkey rally. Camping near Christchurch, -8C on Friday night but I was so rat-arsed I didn't notice. Long Johns, a 4-season sleeping bag, a Thermarest mat and a Bivvy Bag plus loads of beer and scotch kept me toasty warm. I'm glad I remembered the 2-pint milk container as a piss-pot - I would NOT have liked staggering off to the loos...

which means you'll be officially scooterless until the 300 arrives??? that's like turning up at work and realizing you've forgotten to wear underpants. what an awful feeling.

Genie I can't say I've ever done that. We'll have to count on your experience on that one.

Wonder - more details on the possible sale needed please.

Christos mmm I may have touched a nerve on that one.
I'm going to have to find myraid ways of saying sorry.

Dessa I really like Eva because it sounds like a dainty femme.

Jim you've just summed up the very reason why I won't ever go camping ever again.

Border I'm going to plan a date well into the future so that none of you are washing your hair that weekend.

Big Love

I have a buyer coming tomorrow to look at the WM2. I spent all day yesterday doing a Bill and polishing it within in an inch of its life. It looks, well, wonderful, like a sapphire.

As for the 300, there is a surprising surplus because it appears that dealers are finding them very hard to shift (probably because everyone is broke in January). So I am getting one below list price that is already here. My choice is white, no black no white no black... who cares Spider can respray!

I was scootless for five months and it was BAD, never again. Maybe scootless for a week, max.

MY BABY IS HOME!!!!!
VELMA seems to have really caught on.... mainly because it's easy spelling and works in both Portuguese and English (bit like Amanda or whatever my actual child's name will ever have to be)
also Alex kept calling it the "Vermelhinha" meaning the little red one and hence Ve..... caught on...

though when I talk to her I accidently say Shirley every now and then

my Shirley is at the home already, playing bridge probably whilst she waits for a heart transplant or whatever destiny awaits her.
as my note below says, she'll always ride in my heart....

now back to Velma, we're getting used to each other...
and what a smooth ride she is... I'm loving the 125cc... I can really rely on it and just chill, I'll make it
and the sound.... lovely
I took her to her new favourite restaurant, fed her and I love it how the fuel dial goes all the way up to F (the Et's never did ) and so forth

I put her to bed with great care and covered her up.

my chain doesn't fit the back wheel though, which is a bit annoying.
I also didn't lock the wheel otherwise we couldn't get through between the two babies at the front and I AM NOT touching my new mirrors on my wall like I did with Shirley (as I had about 3 spares and just scraped the hell out of it)

oh she's so smart!!
the top box is brand new and smelled like a brand new car!!!
she looks so much like Yves, my first car, a lovely brand new red ford Ka

getting used to each other...

I'm going to work early tomorrow (cos I need to) and also so I can take my time on my first commute on her

she looks so lovely! it's not the best time to take pictures right now, but they will come. Prob on the weekend there'll be a photoshoot... just she's got the Thermoscud on so you can't see all her beauty...except that you can... cos she's so lovely...

VERY HAPPY OWNER!
