... and i'm very very delighted. not only did spider sort out the dent, he serviced it as well - tuned the engine, cleaned the plug, changed the coolant and brake fluid (which the dealership was meant to do before i picked it up, but didn't )

in the end, we decided not to paint the top box, which means that i can now take the vespa one off and go back to my trusty givi, which i prefer.

I bravely ignored my (now diminishing) man-flu and was out on the piss both Monday and Tuesday as normal - Doug, your LS dig was spot-on.

I'd have been out again tonight, but the usual Thursday night gang I meet up with in Epsom all cried off themselves the buggers.

Tomorrow I've got to try to manage both the latest family engagement party and my usual Friday trip to the local coffin-dodger's pub (which is a superb venue, BTW!).

It's enough to make one Grumpy - oh it already has.

Two and a quarter hours of work left...

gah!!! first day out with the interloper and some fluffball has already left a parking ding!!!! aaaaggghhhh!!!! it's only a wee scratch, and i'm not particularly bothered by it, but ..... ferfecksake!!! this is in the parking area at work, where there is absolutely acres of space to park in - how some muppet managed to drag their bike across the cowl of my scooter is an absolute mystery

on a more positive note, it has kind of settled the matter of whether to save up for crash bars or an LV - no point getting the crash bars now

Get the crash bars anyway - they'll prevent further damage and mask what's already there. My front mudguard was already well dinged when I got the fender protector.

to be honest, i'm not all that mad about the way crash bars look .... and i don't really mind the wee battle scars. i do love the look of a pristine and beautiful scooter, but it's not really 'me', somehow.

we'll see, i may get some eventually. for now, though, the LV is the priority

Doug, its a FANTASTIC machine. I love it. It is so quick and nimble, turning circle is great, doing a u turn is so simple it makes me wonder why I had such trouble before, and the acceleration is amazing. Hits 40 mph before you can blink.

Spider, it is a great scoot (but you knew that!). Best save pennies for my LV next. Though the exhaust doesn't sound too bad as is.

Did you actually try a 250 as well? Just wondering if you noticed any difference. Hopefully my black one will be arriving next week courtesy of Smudger! For some reason I am getting quite excited.

I did not try the 250 so I cannot appreciate a big difference. The dealer gave me 15 per cent of list price so it was cheaper than a GTS 250.

The guys in the shop did remark that the acceleration and handling were improved (in their opinion) in the 300.

this is all so exciting.

roads were dry on the way home this evening so i flung the 'loper about a bit ... i'm getting to grips with its heavy bottom and wide arse.

i've just been commissioned to do an article for the BJP that will bring in almost precisely the cost of an LV. so that's settled then.
