Maver you could drop into Cite Europe on the other side of the tunnel and pick up some Belgium Chocolates ? Save a whole bunch of time and distance and one would be the wiser unless she reads this....Dammit.
If you say the keeper of the product is as protective as you said he was I'm sure it will be in excellent condition.
I'll let you know when the equipment arrives.
Still trying to decide what to do with my lost weekend on March 7th and 8th.
Trying to think of somewhere in France or Belgium that I havn't been to before.

Thanks for that Maver. That weekend my lady is in Amsterdam and I don't want to waste the weekend while she's away but I don't want to blow loads of cash doing something just to keep myself busy.

Jim did you see the Ace Cafe on the BBC News this morning ?
Thay had an feature on air bag jackets for riders and I think the owner was on film trying one out. Guy called Smoke or Smokey of sumfink?

T'was fine - except for the pin-lock inner visor on the Nolan 103 helmet. Bloody thing allows water in between the inner and outer visors - and this is my second replacement visor set! The Bob Heath Veewipe Visor Cleaner was perfick for keeping the outside clear of clagged snow though.
Get a Schuberth C3 with a pinlock. Brilliant, and those Bob Heath things are brilliant. I cleared Infinity in Holborn out of their stock as I keep losing them. I got caught cominghome in the snow too. It was kind of strange and surreal.

Yes I know that surprise from the sports biker I also started out on a Zip 50, great little thing, although pig slow due to the FOUR stroke 50cc engine.

I won't be available March 6/7 because, did I happen to mention, I'm going to Venice with my oldest friend (as in how long we've known each other, not agewise). YAY!

In other news, my week continues to suck because my gerbil, Sheltie, is a very poorly little guy. He may be a vicious blighter with a brain the size of a lentil but I don't want to lose him.

At least leaving work early to make the vet appointment meant I missed the worst of the snow. It was quite spectacular in Bromley and made a determined effort to settle, foiled at last by turning to rain around 11PM.

I need an excuse to ride the GT out tomorrow.
Might go up to the 02 for a coffee if anyones about.
The answer is usually no but there's no harm in asking.

If the GT starts I'm aiming to be at the tube station by around 3pm if the GT starts.
There is a bike park there at the top of the car park.
Just aim for the burger van.
I'll be in touch.

Well Bill and I met for coffee for about an hour, it was lovely riding weather although I only put a t-shirt on under my gear, which was a bit silly, considering it was only 9 degrees. It was good to see Bill as we haven't hooked up since last September I think...

I did a bit of tinkering with the scooters today, moving the heated grips off the Vespa and onto the Honda. The Vespa becomes fair weather only as from today! (Apart from emergencies of course.)

Some git has scratched it, although fortunately it is only the plastic bit below the cowl, must get some touch up paint to sort it out.

next day
Yup had a lovely dry ride to T/Wells then a blast up to meet Doug at the Pilot to catch up on the gossip over coffee.
There were two funny moments that he didn't mention which I think are worth repeating.
1 When Doug ordered a shandy the ( I have to say pretty good looking barman ) asked him how much head would he like.
How I didn't spit my coffee out I'll never know but luckily both of us stifled our giggles and I think Doug said something like I'll settle for a little one. But as if that wasn't enough when he handed it over he said ( and I'm not making this up ) I hope you like the taste of it.
I think we both cracked up and giggled like a pair of fannies when he handed it over.
I'm not sure if he thought that we were on a date or something simular but it's not often that Im lost for words.
Maybe it was because I was trying on Dougs helmet for size prior to the ordering of drinks that did it?
No2 Was as we were leaving and I was replaying the whole head-pun through my head I tried to ride down a bus lane because I hadn't seen the big white letters on the road saying BUS LANE.
Dougs lovely grey eyes came out on stalks when he realised my mistake.
How I didn't see the big red bus already sitting in the bus lane I'll never know.
Anyway I had a lovely cold ride home and it was good to catch up.

Dessa I'm so happy for the both of you. Pass me the tissues.

You know, I forgot all about that "do you like a big head, sir?" conversation. I, too, was lost for words! The Greenwich peninsula is indeed confusing with separate roads for buses running alongside the real road. On arrival I couldn't figure it out!

Welcome home Genie.

Glad to hear you're still bouncing Dessa.

Enjoyed another good Fred Hill run today, followed by the AGM of the London MAG region. Josef who started the anti-Westminster campaign gave a Very Interesting talk.
http://www.notobikeparkingfees.com/

Be there for the most important protest on Tuesday!

Worse though is that the incumbent Greater London Regional rep had to stand down (he is now president of FEMA) and no-one was prepared to take on the task. So yours truly has had to agree as deputy rep to carry on some of the 'business'. Grr...

Great ride in today... no traffic because of half term, roads dry, not cold, 300 runs like a dream, bus lanes clear and free!

Roll on the summer!

Also received this little number for Valentine's Day and it is now on my desk. The handlebars turn and the centre stand actually work!

I'm just catching up too. Congratulations, Dessa! You definitely want a Vespa guard of honour, right? (This is what I plan for my own wedding in the unlikely event of its ever occurring.) And welcome home, Genie - thanks for bringing the weather with you.

My weekend:
- 1 deceased gerbil
- 1 front tyre puncture on the GP800
+ seeing my mum for her birthday and having a walk on the beach
+ lovely ride through the New Forest with boyfriend

Sorry to hear of your sad loss and the screw in the tyre.

Amongst the many pets I kept a school - rats, hamsters, chinese hamsters, gerbils and guinea-pigs - one of the most memorable was a hamster called Jack, given to me by one of the children.
He was quite old then and used to make occasional daytime appearences, tottering round his cage.
At some point, one of the children remarked that he hadn't been seen for a while so I took out his red plastic house (you know the one) and carefully tipped out the contents, including a very stiff Jack!
'Twas sad but he was very, very old.

Happy Days!

Oh dear! Sounds like he went in his sleep, at least.

I lose count of the gerbils I had as a kid. The ones I've owned later in life tend to live longer - seems life is less traumatic for them...

Sorry to hear about your gerbil, Alice.

I got a gerbil when I was six and our cat spent all the time staring at it through the bars of its cage.

The gerbil died (of a heart attack??) a week later.

From an evolutionary point of view I don't blame the cat, as it likely regarded the gerbil cage in the same way I regard the lobster tank at a Chinese restaurant.

I gave the gerbil a dignified funeral in the herb garden as it was my first experience of death.

The cat carried on for another fifteen years, terrifying the living rodentitude out of small creatures. Consequently I never had another gerbil.
