Bill I too want to see pics of the Hornet with its new screen, and genie same goes for you and your pipe though I'm a little ignorant as to what the LV pipe does different, sorry if it's obvious! why is it better/nicer? convince me i may buy one too! heheheehe... ooops, except that I can't as I said above. now I can talk about everything else too instead of being paranoid about my test and u turns (by the way, my u turn was magnificent!) ⚠️ Last edited by Dessita on UTC; edited 1 time

ok, i'm gonna congratulate dessa over here too, especially as doug is insulting me in the other thread
alice, here's a strategy - why don't you and i and dessa all bid on the jacket, which we are certain to win by these sly means, and then we can have a runoff poll to decide who gets to keep it? |

the amount of mileage George does a day we are expecting him to ride for a while until he's tired.
I think the plan is when that happens we'll go to Italy pick up a brand new Scarabeo 500i.e. hmmmm 8) but you never know, do they take wedding registery at Vespa.com? |

What fantastic news Dessa. Really well done. We're both grinning here, remembering how good it felt when we passed our tests.
You've had a lot of practice celebrating lately, eh? Long may it continue. And the picture is great. Do you think you could do another one, and try to look a little bit happier? |

Dessa - I'm going to sound really old now but please be careful tomorrow because although you are full of the joys of spring right now - because of your recent success but don't let it go to your head and have a fall.
Hard to do I know so please be careful now you are free. Two bits of joy now huh ? What could be the third bit ? Ride safe Billy-no-scoot |

Constant throttle, control speed with back brake. Pause between practices as the clutch and brake will get hot otherwise...

No Guesses who was the total numpty who set his alarm clock for 4.00pm instead of 4.00am and awoke to the sounds of the birds outside at 7.25 am. Totally dissapointed - now pissed off for the entire weekend. Public apology to all. Thats if I would have been missed of course.
Well done Dessa for passing the test. Off out to buy a numpty proof alram clock.!! |

I have my test on the 31/3/09 I hope I can pass first time too! Well done you. right, practice riding in the slowest speed possible (not in idle) just controlling your back break, that'll teach you the control when you're doing the turn and how you don't fall off then the thing with the u turn is to focus on a spot high at the horizon. in the test they'll ask you to do exactly what I did on the video, so it's not a long ride then u turn, it's from where you are stopped. so basically as you are sat on the bike checking your mirrors before you are going to start riding off, look back and find a spot behind you. like I found 1st floor windows of a house behind you works. so you start the turn then turn your head to find that spot and keep focusing on it, that's where you're going and no one will stop you! this way you don't even worry about your balance, you find balance, because you are aiming to get there and anyway, you have the control because you practiced slow riding with back break. keep a steady throttle slow speed and just control with the back break. really you can do such narrow ones after you get the hang of it. I practiced in really wide car parks for a while before I started trying on actual roads with cars and narrow curbs. it's like that scene from Billy Elliot where his teacher is trying to get him to do that spin and she says "find a spot on that bloody wall and don't lose it, spin and come back to that spot" or something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoiVEyCosEE i'm so pleased. off to oxford street now. guys if Vera Wang heard you she'd be so distraught! shocking! ugh! |

that is a fine looking bacon sandwich. you've got the bacon to bread ratio just about perfect there. we didn't get pictures of our bacon sarnies - they vanished into our greedy gobs much too quickly to be captured on film - but we did get some nice shots of the LV install, including photo evidence of an interesting bodge on the old exhaust studs. pictures in the Project Reports section.
