my allotment is on the brent meadow, facing the wharncliffe viaduct in hanwell. pretty much 20 yards to the left of where the photographer would have stood to take the photo below.

I didn't think Avon or Kleeneze still existed. My grandmother used to have all sort of weird cleaning gadgets which she never used, as the house was always a tip!

i did the kleeneze for a while, all the clients seemed to be older ladies, it just didn't have the same "draw" if you get my drift, i mean i LOVE tea but never felt compelled to go in for a cup whilst doris tried out her new dish mop

Your right tho Mav.... I've earnt some big bucks in the last 2 yrs... but there comes a time (no alarm clock jokes please) where one has just got to get a life ... and so my dear freinds. I don't have to get up...and then I'm going to walk my two Border Terriers for 5 miles or so across the south downs. I'm also looking for a new scoot / bike.

I bet it feels like a huge weight has lifted off your shoulders - providing you've got just enough income for the necessaries that is.

On an allied note my otherwise wastrel younger son has finally got his arse in gear and has started an organisation to get other fellow wastrels 'employed' starting up organic 'allotments' in people's gardens - an idea he had months before the BBC jumped on it. Of course he's started with my garden as an experiment - so I get the whole lot cleared out without lifting a finger of my own! Success!

that's a fantastic idea jim - i wish him well. that sort of thing happens on an ad hoc basis (i'm also a moderator for the hackney freecycle chapter, and ads frequently come up of people offering or requesting access to otherwise underused gardens) but it's great to see him getting it properly organized. the number of neglected gardens in the capital makes me really sad

congratulations mate i did a similar thing quite a few years ago, chucking in my career as a waterflow control systems designer (zzzzzzzzzzzz ) and retraining in the completely useless field of art and philosophy. i'm broke but i go to work with a smile on my face and it's not just because i ride there on the scooter.

Phew... two posts from being dropped off the 1st page. Yep Border resigns, but setting up on my own rather than working for the tossers I worked for raking in my efforts...If I make a tenth of what they do i shall be a happy bunny and should only take up 25% of my time. Crux came when they did a sales spreadsheet and of the top 25 customers who contributed to over 75% of our business were all mine and people buy from people in my game , so .. upwards and onwards and bollox to all of em.
And if it takes up more than 25% of my time I couldn't care anyhow. I've seen the light and after working 60 - 70 hours a week for the past decade ~"I've ad enuff"

Now... question for all you tinkerers...sorry scooter engineers. Dougl.. I believe you have just got a GTS300 and you've got the J Costa and Non standard Pipe hope I'm right on that assumption ?... so whats the difference ? I as most of you know have got the Nexus 300 which shares the same power plant as the GTS300.. I love my Nexus , had the GTS250 and found it great round town but wasn't really what I was after when out of town(great style tho)..anyhow.. I want more acceleration... any bleedin half wit can go fast in a straight line but I want acceleration and good handling, I've got the handling and now pretty much gelled with the little beast but I want to improve acceleration.

Thoughts on a postcard please...........!

i'll probably have to give it a miss unless boyf has some independent activity planned .... three weekends in a row of scooter-related absences will not go down well on the home front

I guess I'm lucky because my other half works on a Saturday which leaves me free to do what I want.

As I say if it's dry and looks like it will stay that way I'm all for it but if it's going to be unpleasant we'll just do it next weekend ?
